Regrowth Question!

Hello all!
I recently started dying my hair at home and my roots are regrowing. This was my first time ever dying my hair btw.
I went to a deep burgundy from a light brown. I loved it just want something a little more vibrant.
My main issue is that I want to go a little lighter and the deep color has faded some in the time since I've dyed it. I'm thinking of going to just a regular burgundy shade and not the deep burgundy it currently is. How should I go about getting my roots to match if I choose to go to a new lighter color? Do I need to do a touch up on them to match my current hair color and then go for the lighter burgundy?
Any help would be appreciated. πŸ™‚

It's a hard one to answer because you did'nt mention if the colour you used is permanent or semi-permanent.  It would be best to fade it more or remove it and start from scratch with the new colour imo.

Generally speaking in permanent dyes tint doesn't lift tint, so using a lighter burgundy would probably leave you with lighter roots and darker lengths but it's hard to say without knowing what you used and how much it has faded
