thanks for responding! Is there much point using protein treatments on virgin, unprocessed hair?

I primarily use them to help my hair retain more moisture and it works really well. If I just use moisturising treatments by themselves, my hair only softens to a certain extent and doesn't stay moisturised as long as it does when I use protein, so in that respect it balances the porosity. Did you know that some hydrolyzed proteins are not just for structure and repair, some of them act as humectants, which is why I use them. I also use them to densify my hair strands. My hair is naturally dry because my scalp produces very little sebum if any at all, this is because I took a course of Roccutane when I was 18. I'm 31 now and my hair hardly gets greasy. I replenish the missing lipids with natural oils like coconut, olive, sunflower and Jojoba oil.
