i started having issues with my roots coming out red or reddish so i tried the salon. paid big bucks only to have them turn my roots red so i'm on my own again. i have light mousy brown hair with 20% grays. this time the lady at the hair supply store said to use an ash color and 10 drops of the purple stuff per ounce of color and a 20 developer. my hair was already a level 7 so i went with a level 7 ash blonde. my roots STILL came out a tiny bit lighter than the rest and it's all still reddish. will anything stop this red?
Are you just wanting to cover the grey? If so you can try using a much lower volume developer (less than 10 vol) so it only deposits the colour rather than lifting your natural shade. The red tones are revealed when you lift. Many demi permanent colours have their own low vol developers, they are designed to be deposit-only.
i have never seen anything lower than 10 volume. i will look for it and try. thanks!!!!
