Red help

Hi all,

Been probably over 2 years since I've been here! Got a job and with it, boring brown hair lol! But I've since had a baby and quit so here I am rocking my red again! Sort of....

Anyway, that's not why I'm here so here goes....

I had a lot of blonde highlights- sort of caramel not too light but not quite ginger. Went to salon and had a tint put on red 6.62. Turned out quite dark but lovely. Two washes later, roots still red, ends brown and patchy. I discovered Scott cornwalls colour restore for red which has worked a treat although my skin is neon pink and it's more like the rubine red I used to have with a pink undertone- not what I was looking for but nice all the same. Under his advice, tomorrow I will put a Demi on (lo real casting cherry red) in the hope it will grab onto the pigments from the restore.

Is this the right thing to do? My hair is pretty dry and I'd use a semi again but it stained everything and swimming was a definite no!

And how to I get this pink off my skin?!

Stay away from the demi, it has peroxide. The semi reds are honestly the best. What kind of red do you actually want?

I was going for a deep vivid red. Not bright fire engine but not auburn. Although I love the colour it's gone with this colour restore! And I can use it as much as I like because it's not got peroxide. I'm looking for something long lasting really. I used to use semi perm all the time but right now with a baby (who's just started crawling) I don't feel like I have time with the prep and clean up. Also the colour running is not food for me as I take him swimming often and although my hair doesn't get majorly wet, I remember the colour standing my neck!

The problem with red is, permanent reds aren't permanent. They're less permanent than semi's. So if you're wanting true low maintenance, then red isn't the colour you should go for, it'll always require topping up and semi's are the longest lasting and least damaging way.

Use Adore.

They have a lovely range of reds, there's minimal rub off and hardly any run off when showering.  Staining?  None, really; I cleaned my bathroom after with some wet wipes.

It's honestly one of the nicest semi reds I've ever used in terms of staining and rub off.  You tend to need to redye about every four weeks or so if you wash 2-3 times a week with a sulphate-free shampoo.
