Does anyone know a bright red box dye that isn't brown based so won't fade to that hideous mud colour? I was looking at the schwarzekopf colours with hope but I'm not sure...
Cheers guys.
I used to dye my hair red with shwarzekopf box colours and after a year of doing it (all over though) I ended up having to cut all my lovely long hair off, and they always faded to a muddy brown colour which is why I would top up all over. Could you not try a semi?
I have yet to find a permanent red that stays a nice, pretty red and doesn't fade to yuck or brown. Red semis do last a lot longer

I normally used the xxl but wouldnt recommend them at all!! My semi perm reds last waaay longer and stay more vibrant than a perm red π i find they fade rapidly and turn into a horrible colour x
Had same convo with someone today she wanted a red perm ontop of bleach (yes it will take but never last summat about the dye molecules being large with what my pro contact told me aaages ago) and she asked my dye seller if it would be ok it got referred to me haha and i said to her if you want a lovely bright red that stays semi perms are spot on just gotta be willing to top up when required etc π
Hope this helps xxx
I used to use the xxl reds and even the brightest one (real red) would fade to that muddy brown soon enough.

Its throughout all the range theyre great to begin with then they fade rapidly π never learn tho as i keep using the xxl cosmic blue even tho i say i will never use it again haha x
I was asking because I've faded out my red-pink-purple mix and I've got such a hideous base to be working with that I doubt I'll get a red to evenly cover it without bleaching... and bleach hates me π
Reds are pretty forgiving in my experience. A strong bright semi-red will probably cover an uneven base quite well π
A red will cover an uneven base very well. Because I'm constantly mixing my shades, when my hair fades it's various shades of bright pink, bright orange and ginger, but my next mix always covers it all very well and makes it look even again π
