I also noticed something interesting about different textured grey/white hair too. Individually, each of my mum's is very much solid whitish, creamy grey. Her hair is quite coarse. My hair is on the quite fine side and my white hair coming through looks almost translucent and definitely white.

So I think, when I do go fully grey/white, mine will look a lot more white than my mum's ever will. Even though she's using silver shampoo, her individual hairs never look white, always slightly inside of a banana colour with a hint of grey. I think it's partly because her hair is coarse.

My aunt has long wavy hair and her grey hairs are the most mental curly things ever! They look like they've been crimped. I kind of hope my greys look like that because I think I'd look good with mad grey hair :p

I want to cut my hair into a choppy bob. It's almost to my waist now and colour maintenance has become a bit mad. I'd also like to re-place the colours a little (moving the turquoises from the tips to the fringe area), so I'd probably have to strip and BB some of it, and though my hair is in good condition I imagine the ends wouldn't cope. I also have a couple of murky patches on the underside of the length of my hair which I've just given up on

My main problem is when it comes to cutting off my lovely tealy blue tips it just seems like such a waste! they're a lovely gemstone type vibrancy at the moment, this is HARD WORK I'm snipping off here! All very silly considering that I'm sick of my long hair in so many ways. Perhaps I should strip the colour a little first so I'm less attached to the hair I'd be cutting.

^Maybe just wait until you're due for a refresh and roots to cut it?

My hair started going grey at 17. 'Grey' hair is never really grey, it is unpigmented so totally white, the grey effect is just where the white is mingled with the coloured hairs.
My hair is actually less grey now than it was a few years back, which is odd.

This is only partially true. When hair starts to grey, the cells that produce the hair pigment are dying off. Some people never get fully white hair because some of these cells still produce a small amount of pigment causing a greyish color to remain. I compared my moms hair and mine for a forensic lab experiment and hers is a noticeable grey color where mine was completely white.

My hair just went from fully pigmented to pure white, you could see both colours on the strand. I have never had any partially pigmented hairs. I have never seen it on a client either tbh.
My mums hair is naturally black, and her hair is mostly white now, but looks silver due to a sprinkling of her natural black. She has amazing hair, really thick and full.
Janine, I officially hate you lol. I am only a couple of years older than you but have around 75% grey.

I blame my sweet father for his going grey in his 20s, I saw my first silvers then too. πŸ™

Now all the roots at the top seem to grow in with scattered whites!

You're lucky, Janine!

I'm itching to change my hair colour, but I really like the colour I have and am enjoying the fade and want to see where it goes!  I keep buying different dyes to try to curb the itch to actually dye it!

I wish it were possible to try a colour for a week or so, then go back if it doesn't suit.  Of course there are those spray-on colours, but they must be horribly messy.  And even with true semis, you run the risk of staining and never fully getting rid of it!

I tried to turn my black to blue ombre into black to purple last night. Adding adore magenta to the blue which came out a great Cadbury color but the black didn't take properly and came out completely green!! Not sure how that happened as my base was very pale yellow; definitely not yellow enough to turn it green.

Its really growing on me though and am now thinking of putting alpine to even out the green instead of redoing the black.

I had my hair trimmed yesterday and have the opposite problem to everyone else - I knew I'd be going straight to sleep when I got home so I ask him to just blow dry it, and it's MASSIVE. Eeeks!

We decided to trim it and keep growing until I make up my mind whether to keep it short or grow it out into a bob. I reasoned that if I want to go back to short then I can do that much easier than keeping it short and then deciding I want to grow it out after all. It REALLY doesn't suit me at the moment; it's like a super-short bob above my ears, but it has to be done!

@TabithaBlue I bet it doesn't look as bad on you as you think, I've never seen a style on you that I actually thought didn't suit you. Good luck with the growing!

Aw thanks πŸ™‚ My hair grows really quickly so hopefully by Christmas I'll be able to tuck it behind my ears and life will be a lot easier!

I'm sitting here with a bleach bath on my hair and I have the feeling this won't lift much of this ugly green. I curse Directions for changing their Plum formula, I've stopped using it months ago and still, 5 weeks fade and the purple just disappeared, it's all just green. I'm so happy it's an ombre, if I had this colour all over my head..ewww.

Eurgh I'm sorry you've been hit by The green plum too πŸ™

Edit to add: does anyone get their roots done by a hairdresser? Can you even do that?? And how much do you think it would cost? My roots are awful and I can't do them myself. Normally I just end up overlapping tons but I'm trying to grow my hair now so I don't want to do that πŸ™

Really been loving short pixie/undercut styled hair at the moment & been going in & out of thought of seriously wanting to get my hair chopped off, then back tracking & thinking about how long it's taken me to get my hair to the length it is after having short hair a few years back. Since CyberPunk posted her new hair cut its made me even more eager to cut my hair off as she's got a lovely cut & she looks so beautiful I think it suites her perfectly. Deep down I know the best thing would be to cut it off as it needs it, but the other part of me just can't part with my (get this) shoulder length hair. Which also makes me feel like it actually shouldn't be a big deal cutting off! Lol. Sorry for the ramble I'm just so torn at the moment. On the other hand though I ordered a nice blonde wig the other day which should hopefully be with me end of the week  πŸ˜€
