Purple hair with pink highlights

I wanna dye my hair purple with pink highlights. I've dyed my hair lots of colors before, but never did highlights. I remember a few times I had mixed left over colors (yellow, green and red) together in a Manic Panic jar and and then tossed it all in my hair at once. I had more yellow than red and green so my hair ended up being mostly red with yellow and green highlights. I’m wondering if I should do the same thing again.

Should I do half a bottle of purple and then add 2/3 pink (more pink than purple)... or would that just give me a magenta color? Which I do NOT want. I simply want a nice blend of the two colors.

My hair reaches below my butt so I dont think doing tin foil or a highlight cap would be the way for me to go. Plus I’d be doing it by myself. Can someone please help me figure out how to do this?

I’ll be using Spalt.

You won't get a highlighted effect from mixing the dyes together, unless you have highlights in your base (ie some parts bleached lighter)
The easiest way to to it on very long hair will be to take sections from along your parting and hairline, and dye these pink. Then wrap in foil and dye the rest purple.
