LOL I have that exact picture on a T shirt! My sister bought me it when I had purple hair.
I also have 'Crystal Tipps' hair if left to it's own devices. (Although it is too long and too bleached to get a very definite curl now, one of the reasons I hate my hair short, it gets so wide!)
My hair is actually very fine, but i also like heavy products to weigh it down and straighten the curls into more manageable waves.

Isn't it funny! I loved Crystal Tipps, but if I mention it to anyone under 40 they have no clue what I'm talking about!

I do quite like my hair big, just not fluffy big as it tends to go. I'm sure you know what I mean! As my hair gets longer I'll probably ease off the conditioner left in a little bit so I can still get it big.

I just don't like curls on myself, they don't suit me at all and it is worse when my hair is shorter. As long as it is shoulder length or longer it goes quite ringletty, which looks better. I prefer the hair around my face to be straightish though, which is much easier when it is really long.
I definitely get you about big and fluffy. Mine used to go so frizzy and poofy, especially in damp weather. It is much better since I gave up heat styling though

It took me years to accept curly hair. I sort of embraced it in my late teens when I hair modelled for a hairdresser demo and they brought out my curl, otherwise I wouldn't have even realised how curly it really is for a long time. But I wasn't comfortable with it for ages. Then would blow dry it straight for a while, then discovered straighteners and I was all over them! About 15 years ago I just decided to try again with curly hair and gradually learnt to love it. I am lucky to have a fairly oval face though, so I suit most styles. Mostly. lol

After having to use the straighteners for a while again ( I could do NOTHING with it with the terrible hair cut and then I over did fading, so I was a bit screwed) and with that damage again, worse than I've ever had it, I'm constantly battling the poofy fluff in this damn weather at the moment! Very frustrating. I'm going to be really glad to get back to somewhat healthy hair, but I'm a bit terrified of getting it cut again in case I get yet another disater. I'm toying with the idea of going to a curly specialist in Birmingham (can't work out if there's one in Manchester), but I'm just not keen on the shape of the hair I've seen people end up with by going for a divacut and the like.

Anyway, getting super off topic now. Sorry!

I really love curly hair, even my own curls, just not on me lol.
It is what I call the 'Shakira Effect'. She looks stunning with straight or wavy hair, but quite average with her natural curls.
Curls just don't suit me, unless I wear my hair up.
I am unlikely to ever cut my hair short though, so not a major issue for me.

Janine, your curls are so pretty! I love curly hair, both my grandmothers, my aunt and my dad all had/ have lovely curls. My dad's nickname used to be Crystal Tipps when he was younger coz his hair looked exactly like that! (unfortunately my mum's is pin straight and thin and mine tends more towards hers ). I think you're right about the oval face shape thing too though, I have a really round face and a bit of a square jaw so I have to be careful about anything that adds too much volume around the jaw area. If I do curls they have to be sort of loose, beachy curls or my head looks enormous!

Anyway, back on topic... I think when I was co-washing I used the thin superdrug conditioner mixed with water to wash, then on it's own to condition, then every so often (if it started feeling too icky and I had time to let a dye sit for an hour or so) I did a wash with a build up remover shampoo and refreshed my colour with some dye and conditioner mix.

Thank you πŸ™‚ It's a pain in the neck to dry, but it's a pain in the neck anyway I style it!

You've reminded me of something else. Jaffacake, you don't need to use the dye in conditioner every time you wash when you're co washing. Especially with pink as it generally fades so slowly!

Hey guys...a wee update. So I have done the conditioner mix every time I have washed as well as using the dry shampoo...my roots have hardly grown which is great for me. Pink is still very vibrant. Have attached a picture that was taken yesterday,  still need to find the best silicone free shampoo. Live in a small town so options are pretty limited and also as I am redecorating I am a wee bit on the broke side.
