Problems with dark ash blonde dye

I’m having problems getting medium/dark ash blonde without it going brown. Long story short, i used Wella 7a medium smokey ash blonde on my hair which was a blorangey colour on top with blonde lengths. I did a bleach bath before to get as much as my previous blonde dye out as I could. I knew the top of my hair still had orangey tones so I chose the smokey ask over the normal medium ash because it was blue based. I really like the colour my lengths have gone, it was exactly what I expected, but the top is more of a golden brown now. It looks a bit weird going from a golden brown to an ash blonde, it doesn’t blend very well. I really don’t want to put any more bleach on my hair, but how can I make the top the same as the rest of my hair, or at least more ash? Would using some more of the same dye help? Or do I need to use some purple tones now? I have some Wella cooling violet left over from when I used to have silvery hair. I would consider bleach bathing again as a last resort but I really expected this blue based dye to work on my hair as it was, I definitely didn’t expect it to go so dark and brassy!
If I put cooling violet in wella 7a, would it give it a blue/purple base, therefore targeting orange AND yellow tones?

You need blue and greens to tone out orange and red colors. In my experience violet shampoos and toners don't do anything unless your hair is yellow, even pale yellow sometimes. I'd try getting some semi-dye in a greenish blue color and mix with some conditioner for a DIY toner.

By the way, could you post a pic showing the color of your lengths? I need to do something about my blonde hair now that my roots are coming in and I'm looking for a dark blonde ashy color that would blend in nicely. 🙂
