Hi everyone.
I decided to do a quarantine experiment and bleach my naturally brown hair for the first time. I bleached it once and it turned yellowy/orange, so I mixed conditioner with semi-perminent Adore dye (half titanium, half lavender) and let that sit for 3 hours. My hair was then an ashy blonde. A week later I bleached it again and it turned this peachy color, which as far as I understand was a reaction from bleaching over the gray dye.
I don't mind the pink but the orange isn't so nice. Luckily my hair survived - it's soft and quite moisturised thanks to all the coconut oil I've been using.
I bought T18 toner and I still have quite a bit of both Adore dyes. What will happen if I use T18 over this color? Do you think I could cancel out enough of the orange and then use lavender on top? Originally I wanted to go a smokey lavender color but I've accepted that this probably isn't going to happen.
Thanks for your help!
T18 won't do anything, or certainly very little. It works on yellow, not orange.
What did you use to bleach your hair.
Hi! Thanks for your answer. I used L'oreal feria in absolute platinum. Should I bleach again then?
You certainly need it lighter to get a smokey lavender, it's a tricky colour and needs a very light and even base. However, I wouldn't suggest doing it again until it's been at least a month. You also need to be super careful of your roots because they look very pale and might not take well to another bleaching and you could get a lot of very short breakage.
Best thing I can suggest is to spot bleach the darker parts only, but only when it's been a month since you did it originally. Especially as you've already done it twice. Then you can get a really good idea of the actual condition of your hair as it can take several weeks for damage to really start showing. You can do your roots at the same time, but VERY carefully.
Be ready to choose a different colour, you might not get it even enough, so a more forgiving colour would be better.
Thank you SO MUCH!! This is really helpful. I hope you have a great day π
