Asking/reaching out for some advice here...
Last week, I bleached my hair and then toned it-well, I left the toner in longer than necessary, and it turned with witchy, murky, green grey color. I read online that after a couple days its advisable to do a bleach bath to rectify, so I did, and it worked. BUUUUUT now, I'm stuck with overly bleached yellow/white hair, and am terrified to tone. I was again reading online that a demi permanent dye is advisable with a low volume toner----I did that. It essentially did NOTHING. Can I use a darker blonde (natural mixed with golden) permanent box color with a low (10 vol) developer to help add color?? I'd like to tone down the brightness, making my hair a beigeish blonde. Please help!
Please stop using anything with peroxide/permanent. If it has two parts to mix together it's got peroxide. Every time you do that you're adding more and more damage. It can take a few weeks for damage to really show and it could be too late already. If the last box dye didn't add colour it's highly likely it is too late and damaged too much to hold the dye molecules.
You need to find some toners that don't use peroxide (they stain the hair, it's a better option and its probably all that will work now anyway). They are available in shops, but it depends what country you're in for a brand name.
I'm in the US. I'll start taking a look at whats out there. Thank you very much for your time/input!!
Would something like John Frieda Colour Refreshing Gloss work? I'd asked a friend, and they said there are some at home DIY remedies to tone your hair as well--tea, ketchup, coffee, etc. I'm not sure if I should just leave well enough alone, I've already kindof wreaked havoc here, lol.
