Kinda says it all in the name really but anyway, Garnier have brought out a new range of hair dyes named Olia, I'm thinking of getting some of the blonde to just lighten my hair a bit (I'm not going for like a platinum bleached blonde). Some of the reviews on the boots website are good but was wondering if anyone on here had any experience, good or bad, with this product!
Cheers!
My mum has tried it and my sister.
My mum: My mum is completely grey, with it mostly peppery colour rather than white and she dyes it a light/medium blonde colour, usually with a Nice 'n Easy box dye. She usually only does the roots and it worked on her greys really well and was very conditioning. She used it on all her hair and found it didn't lighten her already blonde hair much and she got the second lightest one. She also said that you don't get much product compared to other brands, she has a shoulder length bob and she normally has leftover when using other brands.
My sister: Her hair is naturally an ashy light brown but she has it professionally highlighted every 5 months or so and has the roots topped up every so often. According to the colour chart on the one she tried it should have worked well on her roots. She said it was crap π It barely took her into the blonde region.
Hope it helps!
I just went to the Boots near where I work and it was the ONLY blonde dye...weird! Anyway looks like I'll be giving it a go anyway! Will just have to wait and see how it goes, thanks for the advice though. Fingers crossed :L

Being the sceptic I am, the gumpf on the website is all a little too "marketing crap" for my liking. Doesn't really say much other than oils, oils, oils blah blah, but doesn't say how the oils "boost" the colouring process.
And "sensorial application process". Never heard so much poop in all my life! Tear shaped bottle is not an easier shape to use. It'll basically just be the same.
Most reviews I saw just now says it doesn't lift as much as it suggests.
But they know oils are the latest trend in hair care (not to say that oils do nothing, but it is a trend never the less), so they've stuck a bunch in. No idea if they really do anything for the hair quality or for the boosting of colour, but I have doubts.
My mum and sister's opinions seem to follow this trend, they both agree they didn't lift well. Seems to work well on simply colouring grey hair though, the company might find this to be a selling point in the future!
That's interesting, I saw several reviews that said it didn't cover grey well! But everyone's hair is different!
The website recommends dying hair every 3 to 6 weeks! Hello fried hair!
As soon as I saw this advertised I though bullpoop straight away haha
I may do a review of how good/terrible it is later once I've used it! π All I can say now is its packaging is lovely, unfortunately that doesn't help with the actual quality of the dye!
I used the Olia red.
Terrible is an understatement for this dye. I went from a blonde. to a.. pink, sort of red? The worst of it.
This pic was taking after I had a shower once after using the dye. You can see the roots are the colour it went originally with the dye. from blonde.
one wash out. I only had ONE shower using good shampoo/conditioner ;u;
I really dislike it, but it could just be me? ):
It wasn't great but it could have been much worse, it pretty much did what I needed it too but I would have been hugely disappointed if I wanted a good full even colour. For some reason it only took to part of my hair, I only applied it to the top half of my head as I was leaving the bottom parts atomic pink.
The weirdest thing happened on the parts where I did get dye on the atomic pink though! It pretty much completely lifted the colour!!!! I've dyed my hair with atomic pink several times and always had huge trouble removing it, I don't know what it was this time but its turned blonde!!!
But that could have just been my hair....who knows!
That is weird about it lifting AP...I would be intrigued but it says on the box to leave it a fortnight if you do any lightening...(I am about to decolour and possibly bleach the brown I have used to cover my AP stains)
I used this just the other day π I felt it was easy to use, didnt smell as strong as some other dyes and left my hair lovely and shiny and feeling great ^^
also, it comes with decent gloves xD
There blondes are terrible, we used it on the ends of my sisters hair because my sistter was going for an ombre effect (we were dying her hair from platinum to brown to blonde ombre and wanted the ends to be darker so it looked more natural) and while the stuck was on it looked grey, quite worrying and barely changed the colour! Useless dye
wish i had read this before, my mom and aunt just sent me to the shop to buy them the dark blonde ones. i hope it doesnt dissapoint them as they arent the cheapest of dyes. I also bought a black one for myself.
