Natural Hair going dark randomly

Hi, my natural hair is a mediumish blonde colour (sometimes) which is what l prefer but other times its goes brown after shampooing, my hair is about an inch long ontop, l shampoo then towel dry. It cant be the shampoo? I allways use the same, can water tempreture or frequency of wash have an effect on the outcome maybe? Or dryness of hair when ive finished towle drying? I cant seem to get any consistency and I want my Blondness more so now im on holiday  :-[
I thought about dying it just to stay a consistant colour of medium blonde but my girlfriend said NO! *nono* So I guess thats not an option  *puzz*

Thanks in advance for any advice

What products do you use? Styling, cleansing etc, whatever you use on your hair.

If you mean when it's wet, then yeah, all hair is darker when it's wet. It might even be that your hair is still wet when it feels dry and so stays darker for a while until it's fully dry and this is what you're judging it on.

Temperature can have an affect on dyed hair, maybe natural, but that's at very high temperatures, like from straighteners applied directly.

Hair lightens with the sun, so it's even possible that your hair will look darker at the beginning of summer due to several months without much sun (though, this is mostly if you're in the UK, Cananda or somewhere with darker winters). Over the summer it will gradually lighten again, especially at the end of the summer when all dark hair has been cut off again.

as a side question are there products out there that arnt dyes that can lighten hair slightly like some kind of special shampoo? Im uk

Your hair looking lighter or darker on certain days just depends on the ambient light that day. It's not physically getting darker, I promise you πŸ™‚

I'm not going to recommend any product that lightens hair without being a "dye". They're terrible to use. You'll just get red and/or yellow tones coming through and it'll look brassy. They're also extremely damaging over time.

You could try getting a clarifying shampoo and using that once in a while, it could just be environmental build up on your hair. Just get something that says deep cleansing or clarifying and use it once a week or once a fortnight, that's what my boyfriend has started to do because his hair was getting dull every so often and it has really helped.

Some of it is probably just the ambient light though as Janine says, my natural colour is dark blonde and some days it looked much lighter than others, even depending on the colour of clothes I wore etc.

Yes, thank you! I was going that way by asking what products are used, but then forgot! I swear my brain has melted recently πŸ™‚
