Hi everyone.
I've been using emu oil on my acne-prone skin for years, but this is the first time I've used it on my hair and I like the results and wanted to share them.
My hair is pretty dry right now. I'm still figuring out my hair and what it needs etc. I thought my main problem was protein but I actually need a lot of moisture and a smaller amount of protein. I think I made the dryness worse by using too much protein, not enough moisture.
Anyway I used the emu oil as a serum and I found it to be very moisturizing and made my hair shiny and softer without being greasy. I used to try to use coconut oil as a serum but it either wasn't enough to do anything, or enough but then my hair was so greasy I couldn't go out that way, so it's an at home treatment. Coconut oil also seems like a greasier oil in comparison. Emu has a more silky texture. I can even use it sparingly directly on my scalp (some say it stimulates growth and thicker hair) without getting too greasy, which I've never been able to do with any other oil I've tried.
It might not work for everyone but my hair (and skin for that matter) seem to love it, so maybe it will work for someone with dry or similar hair to mine.
Has anyone tried emu oil before?
I still use coconut, and of course use it before bleaching.
Any other oils out there that are moisturizing and not too greasy? I'm happy with how I can use this for some extra softness and shine. *cheers*
I have never tried Emu oil, so thanks for the review.
I think you would like argan oil, it is non greasy and fully absorbs into the hair. It makes my hair feel much softer than coconut oil
