So I have natural red hair, and in August thought I would jazz it up a bit before the new school term started. So I put on Berry Red by Castings. Was nice enough, but it didn't disappear after a week or so like most red dyes do on me.
I then went for ColourB4, something I hadn't tried before as colour never usually lasts, well it knocked out the dye and took my hair back to a shade far lighter than it is naturally. A yellow/orange shade, that I am sure some would love, but it's not for me.
I am going platinum blonde with my hairdresser on Saturday, the plan is to find a very pale pastel pink shade to go on that wont last too long. I work in a school, and they will be ok with blonde, but pink wouldn't be acceptable (although my classes would love it!)
Couple of years ago, when I last had platinum hair, I coloured it with Special Effects Blue Velvet, for the summer holidays. It was brilliant, and I managed to lose it before term restarted.
When picking a shade of pink (I was thinking of Crazy Colour Candy Floss) would it be better to mix it with conditioner, or to condition my hair first to give it less staying power?
Diluting the dye with conditioner will make it a lighter shade. Putting the colour over conditioned hair definitely affects staying power. I would also only leave it on for a very short time. I tend to only leave my test strand experiments on for 5 minutes, and they wash out in one or two washes.
Ok all done.
Tried the crazy color candy floss mixed with white conditioner but had no effect. So used Directions carnation pink - 1 teaspoon to 5 table spoons of white conditioner and left it on for 30 mins. Put it through roughly as I didn't want a solid colour, then went over some of the tips with raw dye.
I'm pleased!
Looks very nice. Make sure to add some dye to you rconditioner to top up when you wash.
That's such a nice colour.
Thank you!
I will try the conditioner top up if it fades too quick, but I am aiming to keep pink for just a week until after half term.
