Hi everyone,
Would love some opinions on this. I am 51 years old and have been colouring my hair since I was about 14. I started going grey at age 18 but it stayed very minimal until recently. Currently I'm using nice and easy light brown to tone in the grey but wondering if I might be better just going for one of the dark grey colours on here.
My natural colour is quite dark brown as it grows at the roots but lightens to golden brown in the lengths and has quite a lot of natural red according to many hairdressers over the years.
My other alternative would be to put flashes of other colours in the brown to take attention away from any grey.
Don't really want to go down the road my hairdresser is suggesting which is basically going blonder/lighter so the grey isn't so obvious as I prefer darker colours on myself plus I would get bored of that very quickly.
Any thoughts/opinions?
Thank you
Anyone?
To go silver-grey all over you would have to bleach your hair first, as silver or grey will only take over a very pale, even base (even the darker ones).
Could you put up a picture of your hair and yourself? That would help us suggest colours or tones that would suit.
Hi Tabitha,
Will try to put up a pic but will need to wait a day or so as OH is working away for couple of days and has taken his phone. I'm on Kindle but the camera isn't very good. Will post one prob. Weds.
Hair is light golden brown atm. Generally go for copper/red/orange tones but as I don't work I can do any colour I want really.
Some of the L'oreal maji colours look nice, are they permanent? Do they need developers, do you know?
Thanks.
Yeah the maji colours are permanent, you mix them with developer. If you just want something to put flashes of colour through on the greys you'll probably want something semi permanent, but they might find it tough to stick to grey hair as the cuticle is often tighter. You may need to pre-soften with some peroxide anyway.
I have put up a pic now under a separate post (suggestions for this hair), any opinions/advice much appreciated.
Thanks.
