Hi there,
My natural colour is light brown and I've been using
1/2 tube Majirel 7 (Blonde) + 1/4 tube Majirel 8.45 (Light Copper Mahogany Blonde) + 20vol, for quite a while. It makes it a light copper colour....it's ok but I'd like to go Florence Welch red. Yeah!
I've been told that majirouge 3/4 tube 6.64 with 1/4 tube 7.46 and 75ml 20vol will do the job... But my local shop was out of those colours and now that I've thought about it a little more I'm thinking that maybe I should go for a slightly cooler shade before I fully embrace the full Flo Welch colour.
Can someone give me pointers on what Majirel/Majirouge mix I should go for please?
Many thanks!
Boldy
There's really no need to use a permanent color at all over what you have right now, it will just cause more unnecessary damage to your hair and permanent reds fade a lot faster than semis + often just fade to dull coppery/reddish browns. I would opt for using something from Adore like Paprika, though someone else with more experience with Reds like Intempestivity could probably help you more with specific colors. I think Paprika would be a good place to start though, maybe with a deeper orange based red in with it
I haven't had good experiencing with semis in the past (they ended up with a washed out look after several washes). Maybe I was using a poor quality product - it was quite a while ago. Have been using permanents since then. My hair is quite short so whatever damage is being done grows out pretty quickly.
However I would be willing to give it a shot again though though if ye reckon it's the way to go.
Some brands are far better/worse than others. Some are weakly/highly pigmented, some fade quickly, some are more permanent + nearly impossible to remove. Plus, the way you take care of hair makes a big difference. Using a sulphate free shampoo is a big one, or a lot of people with semis CO wash, using only cold water on your hair, stretching the time between your washes, doing a vinegar rinse after dying + sometimes after you wash (helps close the cuticle), adding some dye to your shampoo or conditioner. Also it depends on the porosity of the hair. Virgin hair usually has a hard time taking and holding semis, overprocessed hair can stain but fade quickly, etc. Leaving the dye on longer helps make it last longer, you can cap it + even warm it up with a dryer for a bit. I just think for a rich, lasting color like hers a semi is going to be the best route
Sounds like waaaaay too much maintenance for me. I swim about 3-5 times a week and need to wash and go. It would seem that permanent dye better suits my needs.
So would anyone got any suggestions on a L'Oreal Majirouge / Majirel mix to get a slightly cooler / less intense red than Flo Welch's hair?
