Hi everyone
So I really wanted to try out going sulphate free (to prolonge my colour) and silicone free (to see what the actual condition of my hair is.)
It's been about 2 weeks now and i'm actually really happy with the condition especially considering the trauma of triple processing about a year ago! The ends feel a tiny bit dry but i am a few weeks over due a hair cut so that should sort that out. My hair does feels quite tangled when wet - I've been using silicone detanglers for so long that i am not sure how normal that is?
What I do miss is how amazingly smooth my hair felt with my cheap, silicone loaded argan oil. Does pure argan oil give a similar results or is it more like a coconut oil treatment?
Thanks!
I think argan oil is fairly different to coconut oil in that I wouldn't necessarily use coconut oil as a leave-in to seal moisture in the hair after washing/conditioning. I also wouldn't necessarily put coconut oil in my hair as a top up. Actually I really only use coconut oil as deep treatments and pre-bleaching but that's just because I have crunchy issues with coconut oil as a leave-in.
Instead of a silicone serum you can use argan oil or almond oil, jojoba, camelia (many vegetable oils are good for that use, but non-drying ones are best, just google iodine content for your chosen oil and as long at it's under 130 it's fine), but you can also use baby oil/mineral oil. It's super cheap, doesn't build up and seals moisture in very well. Should be Β£1 a bottle so it's not a massive investment.

Fantastic! Ill check that out. Thank you so much π
Also coconut oil (atleast virgin) smells funky after like 12h on (slept with it).
I find pure Argan oil leaves my hair as smooth as silicone based serums.
Thanks everyone. Just trying to get some pure argan oil- Holland and barratt are sold out!
