I was just wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives to joico reconstructor that you can buy on the uk high street, I know bleach London do a reconstructor but it contains silicones!

Tigi do one called Dumb Blonde, it's good (better than some I've tried) but nothing is really a patch on Joico K Pak.

I thought that would be the case I shall have to get some and just be patient! I hate waiting for things to be delivered that was the only reason I thought I'd ask

The TiGi one has silicones too, but I think Joico DPR has silicones too. I have never actually tried it, (Joico, I have the Tigi one) so I'm also interested in any alternatives.

As far as I can tell from the ingredients (and I'm no expert, so I could be wrong!) the joico DPR is silicone free, but the Intense Hydrator does have silicones, although only a very minimal amount.  πŸ™‚

I got my infamous knot after keeping my hair for too long under a showercap when conditioning with Joico K-Pak you guys.. Just sayin.

Offtopic: I had such beautiful long shiny well-nourished hair, now 30% of it broke off, the rest is kinky and it will take ages to grow back. I was literally sobbing because of that two days ago. I was planning to wear hair extensions regardless but still.. Well, at least I am not balding [yet] and my virgin hair is quite strong...

Crowcrow, did you just bleach your hair? I was wondering if the knot and subsequent kinky texture was caused by bleach damage, rather than the reconstructor.

No, I didn't bleach them. The absolute mess and damage was caused by the hair being for week and a half+ in the knot. It looks though as if I used 40vol bleach for 2 hours whole warming it with a blowdryer on a highest heat setting that a blowdryer could possibly have.

The only thing that was pretty about me, my hair, is now gone.

How's the knot coming along now? I would be surprised if it was a conditioning treatment that did the damage. And I'm sure the hair is not the only thing pretty about you, I bet you could rock a shorter style πŸ™‚
