Hello
I have just bought my very first bottle of Joico K-Pak conditioner its the 1000m size huge, could anyone tell me what the consistency and smell should be like for this product please? After I had purchased this I read some feedback that said some of these were fakes. So I jut wanted to get an idea as I used it yesterday left it on for an hour and my hair still feels dry not much difference to any other conditioner.
Thanks in advance

You need to use a deep conditioner after it. It isn't a conditioner and using protein can dry out your hair. I have to be extremely careful using it as my hair hates it and goes extremely dry and brittle if I over use it. Over use for me is more than using it for 5 mins after bleaching! I use it very rarely now and my hair is a lot better. However, other people can use it pretty often and their hair feels great.
It's generally smooth, but it can be a little lumpy too, this doesn't seem to harm how it works. It normally smells like... a sweet banana milkshake, something like that!
This stuff is thick, I cannot hear it shake in the bottle, just watched a review on utube and they say its watery, its doesn't have any smell of bananas whatsoever its like a floral smell.
I find the smell to be more like tutty frutty bubble gum. It isnt thick but can be lumpy.
I think you might be looking at The YouTube reviews for the wrong Thing. There is a floral smelling k pak conditioner, but what you have is the reconstructer, which is really thick and smells of bananas π
Edit: yeah or like bubble gum. Kind of in between both!
I bought the GVP brand from Sally's after reading on a forum that it is just the generic brand with the same exact ingredients. The consistency is pretty thick, and it smells like coconut to me.. that might just be because it's technically a different brand. I did notice that it dried my hair out a bit, but not too horribly.
I can never hear it shake when the bottle is new either, probably not when it's partially used (I only have a new one right now) as it's thick.
And yeah, there is a hint of bubble gum too. It's just sweet and fruity.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. I have just ordered the moisture recovery, having left the k-pak on my hair again today it feels alot better and softer but will be looking forward to some moisture being put back into it.
I can't tell from the photo if it is the reconstructor or the conditioner--there's both in the K-Pak range.
The reconstructor is called reconstructor and the conditioner is called intense hydrator.
The reconstructor is thick and smells like fake banana. The conditioner is runnier and I don't really remember a particular smell ... just like generic salon conditioner smell, I guess you could say. Not fruity or flowery, but the way the shampoo room in a salon smells.
Uhm.. Does the reconstructor come in 1000ml? The 250ml bottle was the biggest i saw and cost 20 dollars something already.
I only have the GVP version tho and it smells like coconut.
It does π
Apparently you can also get 1000 ml of conditioner that's not the intense hydrator. It sounds like a generic salon-quality conditioner without the extra moisturising agents of the intense hydrator, though it does have the protein complex in it (probably to a lesser extent than the reconstructor, though).
