In desperate need of hair color help

Hi hi  *1*
I'm running into a problem and I need some help from people that know what they're doing.
My friend has asked me to dye her hair for her and I am worried I will mess it up. I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I do it.

So here's what she currently has:
a very light yellowy blonde with a few strands of her natural dirty blonde color in the front

And heres what she wants:

I want to know if i should bleach her hair so its all one even color? And even if i did,shes told me she once tried to dye her hair brown once and it turned out blue. how can i avoid this and get the color closest to that picture??? please help!!

also would i have to dye her hair or could i just tone it dark??
