Hi,
Just wanted to comment on your eyebrows going thin at the end third---this is very often a sign of underactive thyroid (which is often inherited, you mention your mother's eyebrows are the same.)
Most gp surgeries offer testing for that as part of the Well-women programme as this things tend to kick in after the age of 40, might be worth asking for a test if you're interested.
I've been wondering if I might have that, I'm having terrible trouble with cold hands, feet and nose lately! (Plus despite exercising for an hour a day I'm not really losing any weight )
It's a possibility for me, but it's unlikely for my mum. She's shares few of the other symptoms and the ones I do, which aren't that many, are mostly because I'm overweight... But because I eat too much! When I try to lose weight, I don't find it too hard. I'll ask about a test, but I think it's unlikely π I think it's just our hair loss pattern! At least I can draw on my eyebrows, id struggle with losing the hair on my head.
I think some of it can depend on your type of eyebrow hair too, like I have a lot of very very fine eyebrow hairs so even if they thin out they don't really get gappy as I'd have to lose about 10 to have a noticeable gap but my mum has thick eyebrows hairs and less of them so if she goes through a shedding phase she loses whole areas of brow!
I'm sure I defo have something wrong, this morning I had to get back in bed in a thick cardigan, pjs and fleece socks coz I couldn't get warm. It seems to happen most about 20 mins after I eat something, like my body needs all it's energy to digest or something.
I don't have an issue with not having any hairs, I do have them, they are just so blonde that against my skin they look translucent, but the eyebrow hairs closer to the center of my face are darker, so if I don't darken the outer third with a brow pencil then I have a patchy mess for eyebrows. My mom keeps telling me to dye them darker, but I don't fancy putting chemicals that close to my eyeballs!
Yeah my eyebrows are lighter than my hair, but I agree, dying them sounds a bit scary!
Interestingly, I was reading something about someone with an overactive thyroid, talking about how she can't understand why she's got an over active thyroid and she's fat (before taking medication). I looked up the symptoms of that and it fits me far more than under active. I'm hot most of the time for example. We'd be screwed if we lived in the same house lauralei lol I've always got all the windows open. So, I definitely think I need to ask about that. Once I get a doctor. Which is a whole new problem on its own lol
Ah finding a new doctors is the worst! Oh god yeah, I'd freeze! I'm always so conflicted as I love fresh air and get short of breath easily if a room is stuffy because of my asthma but then if I do open the windows I have to put all my warmest clothes on!
