I don't have a hairdryer. I'm thinking maybe I need one to help style my stupid hair.
It was long with an undercut, then I got it chopped off. Now it's a shaggy mess like a badly overgrown pixie cut but longer on top than the sides. Tbh I haven't really settled on a style, I'm trying to hold off going to a hairdresser (or getting my clippers out) until I've had a chance to look for inspiration.
It's quite thick and it tends to go its own way, but drying it into a shape/direction that I want it to go in might help matters.
I don't think I've ever owned my own hairdryer, I've certainly never bought myself one and haven't used one in many many years. (hairdressers have used them on my hair on occasion though)
So, recommendations please?
I don't know what makes a good hairdryer, they're so fancy these days, but I do think getting one might be a good move in helping your hair lie right.
I'm in the same spot currently with the over grown pixie look and it is tough to style and make it look good without some heat tools unfortunately, I don't have a certain brand that I would recommend, but I would just make sure it has a high heat setting a low heat setting and a cool button, that way you can pick and choose what setting you need depending on the style. I have a cheapy Conair one that I bought from a local retail shop and ive had it for about 5 years and it still works great. Mine came with some attachments, I honestly don't use them, I used the diffuser attachment once on my OH and it gave her curls a little extra bounce but other than that I just use it plain and a big round brush.
As a side note, I have found that curling my hair is hiding my current awkward grow out stage nicely, and braiding the front pieces that are long has been helping a lot too.
Maybe I'll ask Santa for one, then I don't have to deal with shopping for it 😀
I've been sweeping my hair to the side because it's long enough to get in my eyes but ye gods it's a mess.
Soooooooo tempted to get the clippers out and just buzz the whole lot off .... but then I'd have a cold head 😛 and my mum would spend the whole of christmas giving me crap about it.
Frustrating!
Lol I know the feeling, waiting is the worst! I've definitely been tempted to buzz it all off again, but I'm pulling on every last shred of will power I have to keep growing it out. Plus my future sister in law will kill me if I buzz my hair again before her wedding, lol
Yeah, I definitely understand the problem with frustration of growing out hair! Add to that a couple of years of terrible hair cuts (1 truly horrendous cut that meant I had no choice but. To go back to a pixie after growing it for over a year!!) so over 2 years I'm still only at chin length and the back is still a mess because of some crazy thinning one hairdresser did about 5 months ago.
Anyway, I agree with curls hide a multitude of sins and help it look better.
I've been frustrated with hairdriers in the last few years and in the end I got a version of the one I got when I went into training to be a hairdresser.

I'm much more happy now. It's simple but it fits universal attachments which is really handy. It's powerful but not crazy. It's hot but not too hot.
I just have a babyliss one. I save up my boots card points and get them when they are on sale with points and its pretty much free. It was £50 when i bought it a few years ago and its still going strong.
