How to use TONER to light a hair color?? POSSIBLE?

I've been dyeing my hair with Wella Kolleston 55/66 for half a year now, but, while I absolutely love the color I would like for it to be more on the purple tone.

Next time I dye it, I'll try this cocktail: 55/66 (40ml) + 0/88 (20ml) + 8% (60ml).

But I'm afraid the blue might only make the color even darker... Can I use a toner? And how? And which one? Can I mix it in the cocktail?

Sorry for all the questions...  :-[ And, by the way, no, my hair has never been bleached. I usually use a high developer to bring out the color.

Thank you for any help!!  ;D

Are you saying that you would like it to be a more vibrant purple than the 55/66? I don't imagine the blue additive will do that, I imagine it will make it a more blue toned purple (and possibly a bit deeper and darker?). A toner would not lighten or brighten the colour, a toner is more like a filter that neutralises unwanted tones with their opposite colour so this wouldn't work for you in this case.

Do you have a photo of your current colour and an example of what you would like to achieve so we can see the difference between the two? Most people on here who go for very bright and vibrant colours pre-lighten their hair and then use direct dyes such as Directions, Adore, Special Effects etc.
