how to fade hair without making it look washed out?

so this morning i dyed my hair punky color's flamingo pink and it came out much, much darker than i had anticipated -

which, while very pretty, is way too dark for me (and not the color of a flamingo at all really!).  what's the best way that i could fade the hair color to a cotton candy-ish pink without making it look like i've washed it hundreds of times?  i do still have half the bottle of dye if i should need to use it somehow.
i know using hair color remover and then re-dyeing it with a ratio of conditioner is always a possibility, but i'd rather not put that much strain on my hair.

You can try washing it a few times with a sulfate based or anti dandruff shampoo, vitamin c treatments, baking soda + lemon juice, shampoo + bleach powder + coconut + olive oils, etc. For me personally, doing the bleach powder + shampoo + oils left my hair color looking a lot lighter but still saturated/not dull looking. It looks a lot better than when I've done other fading treatments.

You can try the shampoo + vitamin c/baking soda or whatever, but apply it with a tint brush instead so it's more controlled and consistently applied as opposed to slapping it on though too.

Depending on your porosity though ,you may get patchiness or a gradient going on no matter what route you go with. Like, some areas made fade a lot easier than others

Try putting some dish soap on your head and sitting with it under a cap for about twenty minutes.  It strips colour really well!

Remember that all fading treatments are really drying, so have a good conditioner ready for when you wash them out.
