anyone have any ideas on how to HIDE root re-growth, for someone not wanting to touch bleach for a while?
A great big hat?! π
Depending on how much of a contrast there is dry shampoo lightens my hair a few shades - basically cuz its white powder, so you could try a little of that or talc?
There are some brands that sell a sort of pastel that you can use to temporarily colour in roots. I've not ued them myself as they are not cheap and look a bit waxy so I worry they'd just make me look like I don't wash!. Or use the bright colour hair pastels to give yourself exciting colour roots.
Certain colours, (mostly reds and pinky reds) will stick really well to unbleached hair. I know Directions Rubine does, and also Crazy Colour Bordeaux, and MP Vampire red. I'm sure there are others.
How about pre-softening with just peroxide? It will help any semi to be absorbed into the hair, and I assume safe to use while pregnant as no noxious chemicals are produced. If peroxide is a no go, bicarb will also open the cuticle and help the dyes to take.
lol, a hat! that might be a decent solution. i have about 2 inches of roots, so i dont think powder will do it.
pixie- to pre-soften, would i apply the peroxide to unwashed hair, as if i were bleaching? ...and if i were to go the bicarb route, should i wash with clarifying shampoo first, then the bicarb before dying, or just bicarb? ::sigh:: so confused, lol!
also... how hard is it to ombre? i'm wondering if i should just go with it, and make my regrowth a darker color fading into my old color.
I have always added the peroxide to clean hair, then rinsed out with just water, and put the dye straight over. Other people shampoo it out though.
Bicarb is really difficult to get out of hair so you would definitely need to shampoo that out.
You could just find a colour that compliments your natural colour and rock your natural roots.
