You may have some luck using tea tree oil as a scalp treatment and then doing vinegar rinses when you wash your hair. Some people also swear by pouring Listerine (antiseptic mouthwash) on their scalp.

Anti-dandruff shampoo isn't really all that great for most people.

One thing you could try, is rinsing for a lot longer than you normally would. I don't know how much truth there is in this, but I was once told that most peoples dandruff is caused by not rinsing out shampoo well enough. I know it was the case for my ex boyfriend who had terrible dandruff until I made him rinse his hair for 2 minutes minimum. I have to rinse for around 3 mins as I have so much hair and shampoo and conditioner hides in it lol

This is really helpful, I tend to get dandruff and I had no idea how to stop it without harsh shampoo. Thanks for the advice 🙂

There are different methods to a vinegar rinse but it's basically just pouring diluted white or apple cider vinegar on your head. Some people pour it on and don't rinse and some people rinse it off with water. People do different ratios of vinegar to water as well like 1:1, I use about a cap full of white vinegar to 8 oz of warm water and I do not rise after. Do take care to not get it in your eyes! And try to avoid getting caught in the rain, it will make your hair smell like stinky vinegar again.

Vinegar rinses have really helped with my dry scalp, it's a lot less flaky now.
