Middle aged woman having just literally gasped when seeing a family portrait taken outdoors. Have stopped dying my hair just under a year ago. At first it looked like summer highlights and I just let it go thinking as I cut it, it would naturally just transition to more and more gray.My hair is medium brown and about 40% grey at the roots and light reddish brown at the tips. Equals screaming mess. My hair is quite porous, wavy-curly and not styled at all in the picture. It seems to be lighter at the ends no matter what I do but is otherwise in good condition, I think
Most days I tie it up and have never really noticed it before but now I've seen it and can't ignore it. What could I do with my goal of going gray (and I'm still not 100% convinced) to even-out and make it look more polished?
I wonder if it would look better if you got the coloured part at the ends lighter and cooler toned? Like maybe used a colour remover to see what you can get out of it then lighten it and tone it to a colour that makes it look more like an ombre?
i agree with Lauralei, then if you did an ombre to silvery light grey with some slices of darker grey throughout it wouldnt be as big a colour shock for you and itd match in a bit more when your 40% grey roots grow in
