Has anyone tried soapnut-based shampoo bars?

I occasionally use a shampoo bar from Lush but in a bid to go SLS-free and reduce plastic use at the same time, I'm switching to a soapnut-based one.

Just wondering if anyone's been there before me and can comment on them, particularly the effect on dyed hair?

SLS just rips dye right out of my hair, tbh I'll be keeping my Lush bar for deliberate dye fading

ETA just tried one and it lathered well and left my hair squeaky clean, but this is on very short not-particularly-dirty virgin hair.  Curious to see how it goes with bleached & dyed hair (but since I don't currently have any bleach it'll be a while til I find out)

I finally have bleached / dyed hair and washed it with a soapnut bar!

My hair is the peachy/pinky/purple of my current avatar and when washing I did get some pink lather but not as vibrant as I expected.  Next wash I'll use a shampoo with SLS to compare.

I missed this thread before. Do you feel like it reduced the colour much?

I’ve been trying to find a shampoo I like recently and also reduce plastic use, but was never keen on the lush bars because they seemed to make my scalp itchy. I might give them another go though. I don’t know what it was about them that might have made me itchy though. Could have been in my head. Just thinking about it is giving me an itchy scalp so who knows lol

It's hard to tell but it's only the first shampoo-wash since dying.

Lush bars are quite heavy on the SLS though  :/  I use them for fading dye!

These soapnut bars are quite pricey but other companies make shampoo bars with sustainable palm oil, for a bit cheaper.  Example:  Funky Soap Shop

Soapnut shampoo etc

It's got to be something other than SLS in Lush shampoo bars because normal SLS shampoo doesn't affect me.

So the soapnut bar doesn't lather much in my hair but the runoff shows that some dye is coming off with it.  Unsurprising really. I re-dyed with blue Directions recently so even conditioner is coming away blue, as I'd expect.

I think the soapnut bar is pulling less dye out than the lush SLS bar but it's hard to quantify.  Also a bit pointless at the moment because the sun keeps fading my dye faster than washing ever could!
