does anyone here put their hair up with sticks or forks?  ...or do you have any other fun hair toys for updo's??  where do you get them, and how do you use them?

My hair is very thick and silky so I always struggle with hair accessories. The only thing I manage to use are these clips

it looks really nice from the back and its very easy to use. The only problem is that I have to re adjust it every few hours as it slips down my hair a little.

I sell a ton of hair toys πŸ™‚ no hair sticks or forks though (never heard of a hair fork...)

When I had longer hair I'd just jam my hair up in hair grips in random curls on top my my head and put on a headband or hair clip. Sometimes a sparkly brooch. Now I do the same but without the curls!

I use hair sticks occasionally (I rarely wear my hair up tbh) and have found the nicest ones on Etsy. I am more likely to use a pencil though lol.

I use brushes, I have an old art brush that has a long handle so it keeps all of my hair up. I generally put my hair up only when I'm home so I don't really buy any fancy-looking items.
Oh and chopsticks work pretty good as well! I was gifted a nice pair of chopsticks last year, they have pretty cherry flowers on them. I'm not sure they are safe to use with food since they are colored and all so I use them for my hair

i have about a million plastic claw clips that i use all the time.  even though my hair is about waist length and pretty thick, i can manage to get it all tied up with just one or two tiny ones.  i like them because they cause less mechanical damage than elastics.  but... they're not pretty, lol.  i want to start using sticks and forks, so i bought a few to try... i just need to learn *how*.

ive gotta check out your etsy, janine!

I have all sorts of clips and bandannas and headbands ... I like putting fun things in my  hair.

My favourites are Janine's bats, though.

Hair sticks and forks, oh my ! My favourites are glass ones from emergent glassworks (I have a pair of venus flytraps and an octopus) and the hand knapped arrows from Eadward hairsticks like you can see on my avatar (both on etsy). I have pics if you want !

so far ive been buying wood, dymondwood, and even a set of antler forks... and from a lot of different places.  im trying to get a feel for what i like.  havent bought from ead yet, but i most likely will once i decide to venture into acrylic sticks!

intemp- the ones i have are basically two prong forks made out of antler.  they're not what i think you think they are.  but i have seen ones on etsy that more prominently feature the shape of the antler and would probably give that effect!  check out hairaroundnature on etsy.

eta- the picture is upside down, for some reason, but it's my pair of antler forks.  the reddish topper is made of wood.  see how they dont look overwhelmingly antler-y?  also- its not easy to get a picture of the back of your head, especially when you are wearing an infant in a sling.  see his head? haha!

Oh, haha, that makes sense!  I really love the idea of antler-shaped ones, though, so I think I'm gonna have to go on an etsy hunt.

I'm impressed that you managed to get a picture of the back of your head while holding an infant--I struggled to do it with no distractions!
