... or Wish Lists.
Thought it would be fun to share our shopping lists for hair products. I know there is a thread on "the last thing you bought", but I'm sure many of us have got lists of only hair things we want or are going to buy.
Today, I went to the little local Afro-Caribbean shop and stocked up on:
- 20-volume peroxide
- Rapid White bleach (I prefer the white to blue, you can see it as it lifts a bit more easily)
- Shimmer Lights Conditioner (haven't tried this before but have heard good things!)
- Motions Oil Moisturiser (love Motions stuff but haven't tried this one yet)
- And two dyes for toning: Adore Violet Gem and Crazy Colors Natural Blonde (will test strand them, as I have no idea what they will do)
Also ordered another Pravana Silver and Cocochoco Keratin online (yes, I recently got my paycheque, lol).
Best bargain yet, my partner asked me to get some herbs and spices from the food mart down in the town, and I spotted Coconut Oil for a third of the price I normally buy it for - got two tubs for £2 each!
Anything on your Hair Shopping List?
I'm finally getting round to ordering some coconut oil online, looming forward to trying it out!
I'm also on the hunt for a good cone free conditioner since I'm determined to get to grips with co washing.
Next thing I'll be buying are more hair extensions and a few tubs of atomic turquoise!
My hair shopping list is a little different, as I'm having my natural dreads put back in mid-November, so I'm currently trying to use up all of my various non-dready hair products and stock up on the dready products! So this is my 'wish list' for the next few months:
Dreadlock sized swimming cap for the shower
Dollylocks organic dread shampoo in coconut/lime/grapefruit & tea tree/peppermint variations
Dollylocks organic conditioning oils in Nag Champa, Patchouli & coconut/lime variations
Dollylocks organic tightening spray in vanilla bean
Various dreadlock beads/hair wraps & hair bands
Super absorbent microfibre towel x 2
And stock up on pravana blue, Adore blue/black & Osmo Ikon blue/black
That's about it!

I have amplified AT, I am excited!
Eeep I want to see when you've done it!!
I have adjustments to make then I will debut 🙂

I can't wait to see! I'm also dying to see a pic of your hair without dreads! Never thought I'd see the day! 🙂
Haha, there was one floating around on instagram by the person who cut it for me, I will ask if I can stick it on here as hers are private I think. Took two weeks to comb out... When I went on my work placement I wasn't allowed in theatre because my hair was too big to get a surgical cap on, so they had to go if I want to continue doing placements for my degree. I really really miss them this week actually.
Where are you getting yours done Mindi? I thought Gracey had closed up, are you going to someone else?

Gracey has retired, but she has agreed to come out of retirement for one more job to re-do mine for me. I'm so excited! I miss them so much! But definitely won't be shaving the sides this time, as that's kind of what led me to taking them out in the first place! That sucks that you've had to take yours out, but I guess it was a choice between degree (and career!) or dreads! Could you not have had a bigger surgical cap made, or do they have to be only specific ones?

aah I will try this thank you 🙂
Not really, as a photographer you are in and out, need to be fast and hassle free, and the caps are disposable. So no room for manoeuvre really. I don't really mind, needs must etc etc. I still have them, might use them to make some I can put in a few at a time perhaps.
Congrats, she really was one of the best, the only person I would ever consider going to besides myself. I've followed her from afar since the first hair ezboard ten years ago, I wish I had been more active on the other hair boards and spoken to her a bit, I wish her well.
I just bought a huge gallon of Salon Care Cure Care conditioner - it's really simple, thin and cone free, has hydrolyzed keratin in it and some moisturizing ingredients. A whole gallon for $7 at Sallys! It's great for rinsing out oil, as a protein treatment, great to use after bleaching or a fading treatment. Though Suave is super cheap, I was still going through it way too fast with all this fading I've been doing, I really like this stuff! It's simple, detangles, adds protein, moisturizes...I just bought more vinegar too for my vinegar rinses, more GVP Biolage Hydrating Balm conditioner, I bought a few different sulfate shampoos for fading...And my mom gave me a body wash/shampoo that looks great for fading based on the ingredients, and it smells like banana crème pie!
I need more coconut oil as I'm getting low on it! Also:
-more Cocochoco Brazilian Keratin Treatment
-Aveda Damage Remedy Reconstructing conditioner (oh how I miss that stuff!)
-more Suave Tropical Coconut
-more Sesa Oil
-more Argan oil
-more Olive oil
-more shower caps + gloves
-I could use a few more mixing bowls and tint brushes too - I have NO idea what happens to them, I've probably bought 20-30 of them over the years and I have 3 bowls and 4 brushes now lol
Anything redken. Want it. Crave it. Need it. Bring it on!
Currently i need
