Hair modelling

I did it but it was only for color. It was a girl learning to bleach and she also dyed my hair red. She was supervised by my usual hairdresser who i trusted though so i was sure she wasnt going to mess up.
I would assume that if its a competition you should be confident enough that they wont ruin your hair as they should be good but you do run the risk of getting a weird cut which you might not like. Its all about being able to give them full control otherwise its not worth it if you are going to be unhappy after.

I was asked to by a school and it would be done by the instructor and what you want, not what they want. But the girl student who did my cut messed it up so badly that I'm hesitant to go back, and when I told the front desk that, she swore to email me about when I could come and get an instructor to fix it and never did. So guess I'm not doing it now, which is fine.

Someone I know was asked for a hair competition. They promised they would only dye her long platinum blonde hair pastel pink. But when on stage, they started cutting her hair into a bob. Because of the watching audience she remained silent and sat through the whole thing - but it was too late anyway.

I am sure this was somewhere hidden in the contract she signed and she could have spoken up, but this somehow really scares me so I wouldn't enter a competition personally, unless you're in for everything.

Only do it if you're willing to have your hair cut. I used to model for competitions when I was in my late teens and early  twenties and it was fun, but I was totally fine with anything being done. You don't always know what they're going to do and occasionally, they'll get hit with inspiration at the last minute and do something different to what they said they were going to!

This is generally very different to competition modelling. For the comps, you'll normally have a highly trained hairdresser, so it's less about them messing it up, much more about them doing something wild and weird!

Thanks folks, I think I'm going to go for it. They've already said that they won't take me dark (they were floating the idea of silver, steel or lavender which I'm excited about) and I really do love my hair short so I'm willing to go with the flow. I don't really have any attachment to my hair, just more frustration that I've only just got past the mullet stage. It's typical! But as I said, I do love my hair short so I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

I think I would go for it! I remember our creative director gatecrashed the clothes show and decided to copy one of the styles he saw there on me. It wasnt for me back then but I would have total worked it now! You will end up with something wild no doubt!

Update: I did go for it and I've done it three times now. And yes, I did end up with something wild. I've posted a timeline for anyone interested.
