ugh, wow. π
That's shocking π Is there another surgery in your area that you could register with? My old doctor's surgery was notorious for poor care and bad diagnoses, but I registered with another one in the area and they've been brilliant.
gosh thats terrible, a lot of the doctors around my area are the same, they trained al that time to become a doctor, and help people, and then its like they cant be bothered to do it. Yeah, as Intemp said maybe try another surgery, if they don't help you after your results.
I'll wait for my results and then see what I can do! I waited over 2 hours to see the doctor yesterday too, sometimes I think it would be easier to just shave my head and be done
Hi! I don't have a lot of time to go through the replies (have to get a bath ready for my son) but, has the original poster ruled out any health conditions as a possible reason for hair loss?
I ask because I too suffer from palm size hair sitting on the hair catcher on top of the drain in the shower. I thought it could be the shampoo/conditioner I have been using, so I switched to Tresemme Anti-Breakage shampoo/conditioner - after about 2 months of using it, it was not showing much improvement. I am now in love with my *lovestars* [glow=orange,1,800]L'Oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System Volume Shampoo & Conditioner[/glow] *lovestars*. Then I finally got my hair cut for the first time in 8+ years (it was long enough to cover my breasts) and the image on my profile is what it is now. My hair still falls out, but maybe about 1/2 of a palm size now.
My point is that I suffer from a genetic connective tissue disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) & I had forgotten that hair problems, like thin/loss of hair, was a sign of EDS and that made me research why it is a sign...
Hair is made up of collagen and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome affects the collagen in the body; EDSers like me are collagen deficit, so I may look into collagen treatments.
Just a suggestion: look into your health & maybe try collagen treatment if you feel it could be a resolution. *waves*
I got my blood test results today and got told that I just have an extremely low iron level. She also told me that my hair has most probably been falling out for months but I've only just started noticing it as it's got more extreme but it should sort itself out when I've balanced my iron intake again. Saying that, my hair hasn't been falling out as much lately so hopefully it's slowing down π
Glad to hear it's something easily fixed π
I'm glad there is some possible explanation, and it sounds like you got a slightly better treatment at the doctor's when you got the results. I can only hope the hair loss does slow down for you!
I also hope they advised you on how to increase your iron intake? It's certainly not good to have an excess amount of iron in your diet by overdoing supplements, so I hope you received some helpful instruction as to adding foods richer in iron to your diet, like dark green leafies and spinach!
Yay im so glad they figured it out! That was my first gut feeling was that you had low iron. Sorry that you do, but its totally manageable! I first found out i was anemic about 3 years ago. I felt like death + sososoo fatigued all the time. I had MRSA too at the time which im sure didnt help either (botched emergency c section - they sewed up sponges in me ). My hemoglobin was 7. They gave me stronger iron tablets to take at first, and now i just take 1 27mg tablet a day, sometimes two when i start my period. And i feel sooo much better ever since! I know you said you feel tired all the time, this should really help a lot + get you feeling + your hair back to normal. So glad they figured it out!
Thank you guys! I've been taking iron tablets for the past few weeks anyway but I have another appointment at the end of this week to discuss things further and sort out tablets and a diet etc. Although I'm still losing a bit of hair every day it's so nice to feel reassured and at ease finally π
They may give you a high dose tablet to take every day. When they first told me i was anemic they rx me one 325 mg iron sulfate tablet taken three times per day, which supplies 195 mg of elemental iron per day. To maintain i take 27mg a day and ive been fine ever since. Except when i first got pregnant my iron shot way down in the begginning with both pregnancies.
Glad to hear they have an answer for you and that it's easily sorted π
Thank you! I have an appointment tomorrow to sort tablets and such π I think I'll carry on babying my hair and sticking to veggies for a while though just to be on the safe side!
Mine did this cpl years ago really badly falling out from the roots. It was realy bad when I washed it and run hnds through. Its so depressing feel for you mine went really dry yucky and thin with slight balding patch.
I went to my GP for blood test, my thyroid levels were quite low he gave me Levothyroxine to bring levels to normal. It took about 3mths but it stopped falling, now and again It'll do it slightly, in fact was losing hair just before my thyroid bloods were due and they were low so he upped my dose its much better now.
Sorry for waffly post but get to your GP and get tested. One good thing came from it Ive invested in few wigs which look great and make a change, Id never have bothered otherwise. Hope you get it sorted ...hugs ♥
It has stopped coming out in clumps but I still find strands everywhere I go! It is definitely a lot better since I've been taking iron tablets though. I'm hoping it will stop completely soon, I'm surprised I have any hair left on my head... I find that using certain shampoos and conditioners stops it as much, I'm currently using Loreal Elvive full restore which is great. I'm sticking with veggies until my hair has strengthened then I shall go to the hairdressers to go back to a natural colour, I can't bare to risk it myself!
