Hair is falling out a lot?!

You could really have some fun with wigs! I have a couple clients that bring theirs in to get colored/styled. You could literally have long black hair one week, a pink bob the nexr, and you dont need to style every single day, styles always seem to last so much longer with wigs. Ive thought about getting one which would eventually turn into, like, 8 lol, to wear as i lighten my hair + not have to publicly deal with all the odd in between colors/gradients. I know youre very unhappy with your hair loss which anyone would be, but try and have some fun out of the negative + embrace this wig you're getting. Most wigs nowadays, you cannot even tell their wigs.

I had one client come in + said she wants long layers, black on the bottom, and bright pink + pale blonde foils on the top. She sat in my chair + pulled off her wig! I had no idea by just looking at it! Her hair fell out because she took a diet pill for a week + she wasnt really even overweight, but it gave her a heart attack at 22 years old. The meds she had to take after made her hair fall out. But she really had a lot of fun with her wigs, she loved them so much. She was able to really baby her hair + scalp by wearing them. And her hair over the months really started to fill back in. Before, you could see her entire scalp through her hair on the whole top of her head. She massaged her scalp for 20 mins everyday, 10 in the AM + in the PM. She used rosemary oil diluted with olive oil + sometimes coconut oil. When she did wash her hair/scalp, she would use a light silicone free conditioner to wash the scalp (suave naturals tropical coconut) and matrix biolage hydratherapie conditioning balm on her lengths. Within about 8 months her hair was so much fuller it was amazing. It was still thin but nowhere even near how it was.

A super great product to make your hair look fuller is Redken Guts 10 . Its a spray foam, you put it in your hands, rub together a second, then apply it to the roots on damp/towel dried hair. You pretty much have to blowdry it though, but even on cool low setting works. It lifts + seperates the hair at the roots + seriously gives the illusion of fuller thicker hair. That has literally been my #1 selling product over the years, its a miracle product imo. Ive tried just about every single professional + non professional volumizer out there + nothing even comes close to this one.

If the blod tests come back normal then it probably is psoriasis. Plesse let us know what the tests reveal! And a picture of the wig would be awesome! What color/length did you get?

That's awesome! If mine suits me and I feel comfortable in it I may just shave my head... As weird as it sounds the thought of watching my hair grow back is exciting! As for the wig, I look forward to messing around with it πŸ˜€ I'm going out tomorrow night so I might wear it if I feel confident enough haha!

I got a dark brown one in the shape of a bob, it's quite nice from the pictures. Just hoping it doesn't look too fake as it's synthetic. I'll post a picture tomorrow πŸ™‚

Can't wait to see the wig πŸ™‚  Little tip--a well-placed headband can help make a wig look less wiggy.

I am also considering a wig or even a halo type hair extension (rather than clip ins that could pull on already thin/falling out hair) for the same reasons. I believe my hair is thinning due to under active thyroid, but my doctor will not medicate me even though my blood tests have not been good for the last 8 years and have continued to get worse. I also think the ranges have recently increased further in the UK so that will make it even harder to get them to medicate me. It seems getting medicated for hypothyroidism in the UK with an NHS doctor can be a very difficult task and many have to go on suffering from the horrid symptoms of this illness when they should be treated. I may have to go private if things (my symptoms) get worse. Anyway, enough about me... I agree it is definitely worth getting a second opinion and I hope you can get to the bottom of why your hair is falling out and if it is medical start treatment that will hopefully get it growing back to how it was before.

That's strange redheadx, I got diagnosed almost 2 years ago for hypothyroidism. True I did diagnose myself, they were sure it was an ear infection?! But my levels were borderline and they prescribed me medicine straight away.

Yeah I'd go to a different doctor. My husband has an underactive thyroid and his doctor always pesters HIM to get his blood tests done because he's lazy and forgets.

Yeah.. most wigs are unrealistically thick unless you are one of the very few with super thick natural hair or using bead extensions πŸ˜€

I had about 30 wigs when I used to cosplay and when a wig had a similar thickness to real hair you would see the net and the real hair picking through πŸ™‚

@RedHeadx im going through the exact same thing here in the states. My thyroid has always tested on the lowest side of "normal", which is a pretty vastly vaugue range if you ask me...almost my whole life + especially the past few years ive had horrible symptoms (worst is the extreeeeme fatigue). I think it bs of what they consider to be a "normal" range. A normal result could be too high for another person or too low for another. I cant get any dr to listen to me about it, they see its within "normal" range + dismiss it. Not everyones normal is the same! A lot of the symptoms mimic those of MS (which is very common in my area + in my family) + it took me literally 4 years to get a dr to order an mri of my brain, but he didnt order one for my spine which doesnt make any sense. MS is hard to diagnose too. You can have horrible symptoms for years but not have visible/large enough/enough lesions so they say you dont have it. So you suffer for longer + then if you can get another mri a few years later, then itl show the lesions. Its rediculous. The medical field is so advanced its insane what surgeons + drs are capable of doing. Yet they have so much difficulty being able to diagnose a problem...it just seems so damn backwards to me...

@lowerthanlauren did you get the results back yet?

I should have my results by tomorrow, I'm actually scared to death about what they might be haha. If they're clear I'm not sure what else I can do πŸ™

If your bloods are clear I think you should still go back for a second opinion, because it could be scalp psoriasis.  Like I said, my friend had it and was confirmed with a visual diagnosis; I get it sometimes in tiny patches (just above my neck and right behind my temple) when I'm stressed out or if I use harsh shampoos regularly.

No results yet! But I went to another doctor today who did nothing but accuse me of over dying my hair... Then when I told her I only use veggie dyes she pretty much just drugged her shoulders and said to wait for my test results to come through. My doctors surgery is ridiculous!

Wow. Thats exactly why i hatehatehate dealing with drs/drs offices/insurance. Its always a runaround + every dr ive had except for 1, the obgyn that delivered my daughter, has had a god complex + thinks everyone is a hypochondriac. Im so sorry youre going through this, only to be met by drs that act like assholes. I wish i knew a dr to refer you to πŸ™
