Hair is falling out a lot?!

Ya your best bet is to check with your dr. It could be low iron, and like @RedHeadx said, it could also be a thyroid problem like hypothyroidism or hashimotos. Symptoms for those are pretty similar to anaemia among other symptoms as well. I hope you start feeling better no matter what the cause is and your hair will stop falling out so much, even if its not from a medical issue. Most peoples hair goes through a natural change about every 7 years, that could also be whats happening. Good luck, sending positive vibes your way <3

I just had a big chunk of hair cut off and it feels better but even my hairdresser was saying how thin it was πŸ™ (I did find out that using a barrel brush does wonders on making it look thicker though!) She did mention shedding around this time of year and that I shouldn't touch bleach, even on my roots until the end of the year maybe. I booked a doctors appointment today to have tests and stuff done incase it is something health wise so I guess we'll see πŸ™‚ thank you <3 xxxx

I am shedding almost every year around sept-nov at random for about 2 months, so if you've noticed that before it might be the case... otherwise I second getting it checked πŸ™

This is the time of year our bodies do shed more (late summer really, early fall) if youive in the northern hemisphere. During the summer we are typically exposed to more sun, and after a while our bodies start to shed hair, because nature tells our bodies we dont need as much hair, to keep our bodies cooler. Then as it gets cooler out and were not in the sun as much it slows down becayse then nature tells our bodies we need more hair for warmth/protection from the elements. I read about women who would regularly sunbathe on the french riviera, would complain to their hairdressers every late summer about how their hair was thinner + of losing hair more. Its interesting the things our bodies do sometimes.

But, im glad you scheded an appointment. Its better to be safe than sorry. Let us know how it goes!

In my personal experience, the longer your hair gets, the more it sheds. We lose 100 strands a day. I shed a TON while fingercombing, I have since my hair was about bra strap length, and I have ever since. I still have hair. I agree that you should get it checked out just in case, but it could be just normal shedding.

I have noticed less hair falling out since I had it cut, but it's still quite noticeable whenever I wash my hair or put my fingers through it and it's actually worrying! Hopefully things will improve over the next few weeks now I've started taking vitamins and zinc tablets etc.

Longer hair often appears as more because it hangs onto other hair strands, maybe the rest is just falling out without being noticed πŸ˜›

I noticed a bald patch this morning and I haven't stopped crying since. I honestly don't know what to do now, the temptation of just shaving my head is too much but the only thing holding me back is where I can find a wig that will look natural enough! I hate this πŸ™

Some medications make your hair thin out a lot too, I know people who had to change their contraceptive pill because of excessive hair loss so it could be medication related.

Hope the hairloss stops soon.

Oh man πŸ™ sorry to hear that, that sounds awful! There are some wigs out there that look quite natural once you hide the center weave, I'll be more than happy to help out and surely others too.

Really hope it stops soon πŸ™

It is every woman's nightmare, I'm sorry you are going through this.
Have you seen the doctor already? Hopefully they can give you some answers.
I lost about two thirds of my hair due to a reaction to prescription drugs, it was truly horrible. It did eventually grow back though, and I'm sure yours will too.

I'm seeing the doctor again tomorrow! It's just got to the point where I don't want to leave my bed/room at all or leave the house. I have never experienced my hair falling out this much after bleaching it before so maybe my hair has just given up finally. I'm 50/50 about shaving my head, worried it won't grow back. I've been looking hair loss up online and so far I've seen that the white tips on the strands are the root so it won't grow back... I hope this isn't true πŸ™

The hair loss isn't caused by bleaching. Over processing can make your hair snap off, but not fall out. The only exception is if you have chemical burns on your scalp, and you would know if you had done that.
It sounds like alopecia, there are several types, and lots of possible causes.

I hope your doctor can shed some light on it for you.

Every strand of hair has a root/bulb. If you pull out a strand you can see it, same as if it fell out on its own, it does not mean its not going to grow back. Thats why seeing your dr tomorrow is important because he/she will do blood work, go through your medical history to figure out whats causing it, be it alopecia, a thyroid disorder, anemia, medication side effect, or something else. It will get figured out + then you + your dr can figure out where to go from there. Im so sorry you're going through this it must be so agonising. Just know that you have support here and if you ever need to talk im always here πŸ™‚
