My hair is falling out so much recently, I'm not quite sure why?! I fully bleached it for the first time in a few months last week and have been using veggies but it was falling out before then too πŸ™ not in clumps but loads and loads of strands! It's worse when I've washed it but if I use a deep conditioner or protein treatment my hair feels really thin and flat... I've been using kpak and Aphogee 2 minute treatment and I'm not sure what else to do! Would a good cut stop it from falling out? Help πŸ™

Is it falling from the root or snapping off? Falling from the route suggest something medical, such as stress or alopecia, and I would suggest you see your doc. If its snapping off, then its most likely damaged and would need to be cut 1 inch about eh point of breakage to stop the damage travelling up the hair shaft =]

Some of it is from the root yes, but strands are just coming out whenever I put my fingers through it and this has never happened before! I'm gonna take the plunge and have a huge chunk cut off next week and hopefully that will put a stop to it πŸ™‚

Could anyone recommend some decent shampoos for volume too? I've been looking at that one for horses but I'm not too sure!

There are a lot of reasons why hair falls out. One of them is that we, like other animals have shedding seasons. Sometimes, your hair starts falling out more as the folicles end their cycle and release hairs.
A change in hair care can also cause hair to fall out.
When I started washing my hair every 3-4 days instead of every other day, I felt like my hair was falling out a lot as it came out in the shower but that is because when you wash your hair, all the hairs that have been shed but get stuck/tangled in the rest of the hair are released. I was only noticing it more because after 4 days, more hair was trapped in the tangles. Certain shampoos make my hair feel limp, thin and very frizzy. Doing conditioner only washing has improved that greatly.

like amy said, there are medical reasons as well such as stress  or alopecia. you can try taking vitamins or go to see a doctor if you feel it is falling out at alarming rates.
The more you worry about it, the worse it can get as stress wrecks havock with your hormones and can cause you to have bad hair and skin.

If its not falling out from the root then it is damage. you can't really fix that apart from with a good cut

Thank you! I think I'm going to push my hair back for a few days and leave it to try and gain some natural oils or something. It did start thickening up a bit a few days ago when I used a supermarket brand shampoo/conditioner then I used Aphogee 2 minute keratin treatment and now it's back to being really thin and horrible. I may start taking iron tablets too as I have heard good things about them!

It sound like you are over proteinating (is that even a word?) your hair. Lay off the conditioners with keratin or other products which add protein to your hair such as coconut oil. Too much protein can make your hair feel gross.

Yeah I was thinking that! I'll stay away from them for a while πŸ™‚

To much protein can also make your hair go brittle and snap off, so I'd say it definitely sounds like you're relying far too heavily on protein.  It should be used no more than once a week on thin/damaged hair and even less than that for thinner and relatively healthy hair.

If its from the root it could be various things. A lot of peoples hair changes about every 7-10 years, probably due to hormonal changes as we age. It could be a votamin deficiency of some kind, alopecia, a thyroid problem, stress, you could be pregnant...(both times i was pregnant my hair fell out like mad the first 6 weeks) i would see a dr just to make sure it isnt an iron deficiency or something with your thyroid or something like that. Theyl just draw about 5 little vials of blood most likely.

Anaemia runs in my family so that could always be a possible reason. If the hair cut doesn't do anything I guess I'll be off to the doctors for checks just to be on the safe side!

Ya im anemic too, it started with my forst pregnancy. I dont know why but when i first get pregnant my iron just drops, i think thats why my hair fell out both times. Everyone is different, even if your iron is just a little low it could be making your hair fall out. Then you stress "omg! My hairs falling out! Omg! Whats wrong with me?!" Lol which im sure just makes it worse. If you have family thats anemic im sute you know that it makes you feel fatigued, can fall asleep at any time if its lower, bad bad headaches, i see spots in my vision. It looks like just a huge swarm of gnats is in front of me wherever i look.

I haven't been tested for it but I'm pretty sure I might have it! I'm constantly tired, have days where I randomly feel dizzy or faint and I'm always pasty too. Think I'll take a trip to the doctors about it! I haven't washed my hair since Thursday, gonna leave it for a while, have it cut on Monday and pray it improves because seeing all these strands fall out makes me feel physically sick wah  πŸ™

The lowest my hemoglobin has ever been was 7 and i was SO white. Im fair to begin with but i seriously looked like death. And my hair was just falling out so much i only washed it evrry 2 weeks. Back then i normally washed every 2 days but every single shower just a rediculous amount of hair would fall out. I hope you do go because just taking an iron tablet a day can help with all of it. Some days i end up taking a second if istart seeing spots or my head hurts or im super tired. Its a totally diffetent kind of tired with low iron than just normal tired. If you are anemic + the dr rxs you iron just be sure to take it after eating something to prevent feeling nauseous + it helps it get absorbed faster too. And only take what he rxs you, too much iron can be dangerous.

Oh bless you, that sounds awful πŸ™ I'm gonna try and get an appointment tomorrow and see! I noticed today that the strands of hair that is falling out have a white tip, when I googled it shedding came up but I've never experienced this before :O so glad I'm seeing a hairdresser tomorrow even though I'll probably get nagged at!

While you are there they might also want to check your thyroid, like others have mentioned hair falling out (and other symptoms you describe) can also be due to thyroid problems. My hair has thinned so much in the last 2 years... what once took 2 turns of a hair band now takes 4. When I brush my hair loads and loads comes out (from the root), and the same thing when I wash my hair - I know everyone loses hair daily, but this is more than 'normal'. Sometimes when I see all the hair in the brush (and on the floor) and how thin my ponytail feels nowadays I almost want to cry.
