Congrats on the hair growth! And good luck with the rest.
I wonder if it's not much due to your hormone changes during pregnancy that your hair grows faster, or if the vitamins have more to do with it, or if it depends on the person. But I don't really know anything on the subject.
I had previously responded here to your comment/question on bleaching your roots or letting them go longer, but erased that as I thought maybe you meant for that question to be directed at someone in particular, and I also wasn't clear on whether you were asking it for purely aesthetic purposes or if you thought it might affect your hair growth. So, nevermind about that!

I always read on the long hair forum that biotin taken daily does increase hair growth (5000 something I think the dose is but don't take it as gospel, I'm at uni and can't check right now) but that it can give you serious side effects so I've never bothered with it just in case

Sorry I did see that just my boss is lingering around my desk πŸ˜‰ It's for both really, I don't like roots BUT I don't want it to stop my hair growing, I think I will leave it a few more weeks, maybe do it in time for halloween so I can go as a banshee or something with pure white hair lol.

I have heard of biotin daily, and I've heard about putting lady cream for yeast infections on your hair but uhm, no thanks haha, wasn't too sure about taking biotin though. [Ignore that I've been taking biotin daily and not realised!]

I have heard biotin only starts working when you take it for 6 months straight, and I took an entire bottle, 2 or 3 doses a day as directed (I don't remember if it was 2 or 3, it was awhile ago) and they were huge horse pills, and I had no change in my hair.

My hair has aleays grown sooooo slooow. Think Eeyore, sloth, caterpillar, a worm trying to get out of the sun....super slow. Ive never been able to have hair past the top of my armpit at thevery longest, then i started beauty school and i just kept cutting it shorter + shorter which was a lot of fun, but dammit i wanted long hair again. Took 3 yrars to get from the victoria bekham cut (i got it before she did! Then she got it then eeeveryone and their mother got it so i was sick of it) to collarbone. Then, my EX boss decided to use freaking 50 vol on my hair even thougj i told her to use 30 on my ends and 20 on the new growth. Ya, i couldnt even comb my hair with conditioner on it or anything. It was just breaking off in huge clumps. All i could do was pile on treatments, conditioners, oils + go with the "scrunched" semi wet (except it was oily/greasy from so much product i had to put in) look for a couple months. Oh, and my roots were white fading to yellow, to gold, to orange, to red orange to red. Nice. Greasy flaming cotton.

Then my hair started getting better with a lot of TLC and cutting. Then i got pregnant with my son + my hair totally changed. My fine thin hair felt like i was of hispanic or araboc descent. Thicker, more coarse, but it stopped growing pretty much. It was weird. After he was born it went back to normal, got really healthy again, then i got pregnant with my daughter. My hair grew like mad! It was great! Maybe the exyra estrogen? I took the exact same prenatals as before, idk!

Since i had her the growth of my hair has slowed down. Still faster than normal though! Right now my hair just hits my bra strap in the back, so this is the longest its ever been. I want to lighten it so i can have a magenta/darker hot pink on top and warm purple ends.

Scalp massage increases circulation to the hair follicles which, if you do it every day you may see a difference in the long run of your hair growing faster. Not a night and day difference though. Prenatals are great as well as biotin. Using rosemary oil during scalp massage. Pregnant women shouldnt use it though + should avoid massage because increasing circulation can cause pre term labor in some women. Getting regular trims when your hair needs it helps. And just taking care of your hair, avoiding heat on it, and never ever ever use those wet to dry "styling tools". What happens when you put water on a hot frying pan? Ya, thats whats happening to the hair with those monstrocities.

Today I love my hair; I don't know if it's grown even though I keep convincing myself it has but now it's in a lovely rounded pony tail instead of a sticky out pineapple one πŸ™‚ *grow grow grow little pony tail*

That is awesome! Some days I feel like my hair is so short, other days I feel like it's so long. It's just about waist length so obviously it's long, but I just have "short days". I am a member of a forum where so many people have beautiful hip length and tailbone length hair, and I have so far to go!

Hip and tailbone sounds insane! My little target of bra strap length sounds trivial now! haha

Yay Yay happy hair day today, needed a little cheer up after my last week haha but I can feel my hair rub along the bottom of my neck now and I'm at 14" πŸ˜€ I'm sure if I wasn't measuring my hair monthly I'd be throwing a tantrum by now saying that my hair's not growing but there's actual proof that it is with the tape measure! Happy bouncy Deloria πŸ˜€

yay for hair growth! im glad your hair is growing more for you πŸ™‚

like i said above, my hair grew a LOT when i was pregnant with my daughter, and has still been growing faster than normal since shes been born. i had black dyed hair and did 2 color removers and 3 30 vol bleach baths over the course of 4-6 weeks and my hair was at bra strap length, maybe a bit below it in the back, and i have layers and  a face frame so its shorter in the front. but, after doing all this to my hair, i had to cut off some πŸ™ i knew i was going to have to, i just hate doing it. now my hair is just above bra strap length in the back, and i had to take off a couple/few inches from all my layers and face frame too. so the actual length really isnt much shorter, maybe 3-4 inches off the bottom in the back, but from having to cut the damage off my layers and face frame it makes it seems so much shorter for some reason. i mean, the length is so close to what is was, so its really not much of a difference, just taking up the layers makes me feel like i have "medium" length hair and not "long" hair for some reason lol.when i swing it all to the front its maybe 1.5 in above the widest part of my boob, which i know really isnt "medium" but i just feel like it is and its annoying.

i know it had to be cut or else i would have been stuck of the perpetual cycle of my hair growing yet the damage traveling farther up the strand so the old damage would have been breaking off and  would just be stuck with the same length of hair with damaged feeling ends forever lol. ive dont that before for freaking 3 years because i just couldnt bear to cut off all the damage and have short hair yet again. so my hair just stayed the same, damaged length for 3 years no matter how i tried to save it. i ended up just cutting off the damage, which was more so in the back on the bottoms of my lengths. so i cut it into a longer version of the a symmetrical/a line/victoria bekahm cut that i had had years before. the back was cut to about my nape hairline, maybe an inch or so longer, and the front was a couple inches past my collarbone.

anyway, i think im going to whip out the tape measure and actually start measuring it, in the back and in the front. i just hope i dont get obsessive with it like i do the scale! lol

I find measuring only the ponytail to be the most neutral ground since my hair is always much shorter on the front πŸ™‚

Katie, I know exactly what you mean - I could easily become obsessive with measuring my hair (as I've been with scales, too funny!).  On another forum, there was an experiment with hair growth where they measured every month.  I almost don't want to start measuring, ha ha.

But in case I do :)... where do you measure from?  Base or crown or ... ?  My sides are definitely shorter than the back, and I'm determined for it all to catch up one day.  But it's the longest it's ever been now, and I don't know at what point I will be happy with trimming the back to match the sides coz I don't want to sacrifice any length.  I do a micro-trim when I think it needs it, but it will probably always be shorter at the sides than the back!

I fell for another product called FAST Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner, which I tried over the summer.  Don't bother... I thought it would be a miracle product, and it says to use it every day for a month to see any results.  Washing hair every day!  I didn't go that far but used it for a month everytime I shampooed.  Gave it a good try, and it was rubbish.  Not surprising, I'm sure!

Hi sorry I read this on my phone and was convinced I'd replied?! I measure from the top of my forehead line at the centre then down the back of my hair to the longest part, but that's easy for me to say as my hair is all one length other than a fringe!

I have 4 weeks to grow 0.8 inches...grow hair...grow!!! It will be brushing the top of my shoulder by new year.....definitely....

Alexia I've heard tail and mane is quite good but I've also heard people say they wouldn't even use it on their horse so I haven't tried it! Pretty much all of been doing is wearing it all up to avoid breakage at the ends, avoiding heat styling as much as I can and when I do use lots of protector and having some lovely head massages from Sam πŸ™‚ Also been concentrating on the condition of my hair as well, I only really wash it twice a week and I have a shower cap (sexy) for all my other showers. I use joico protein every other week and the hydrator every week and my hair feels lovely not to mention it the length it's growing! Even since I did my roots the other week I have roots again so something is working.
