My sister, mom and I had hair almost to our knees... and we've all cut it off. Lol.

Hello, Deloria! As you may recall from my other post/topic, I've just had a couple inches of hair cut off (bad ends that needed to go). Before that, my hair length was a bit past bra strap length. It is now just to it or slightly above. I am still undecided on whether I will get it cut even shorter due to damage or not. But I am or will be likely wanting mine to grow longer, too. I think I would like it to be at least as long as it previously was again, if not slightly longer. Though, I am undecided and cannot say I am/have been on quite the same desperate hair growing mission as you, as I have not been in the position to have to get a ton cut off when I absolutely didn't want to. I happened to have long hair since I felt comfortable with it and preferred it and never had to get it cut shorter, until recently.

Good luck to you, and everyone else. Perhaps while it is growing, you could try to style/wear it in ways you enjoy for the time being to maybe help to not feel so down about the length, if you think that may help. It's growing, it will get there!

I'm going to need a trim in a few weeks and I don't want to!! πŸ™  lol.  But my hunt and destroy missions have become like an hour long because I don't stop finding more splits!  Boo.  But hey, I tried out measuring my hair and it is 26 inches πŸ˜€

I had a bunch of short, choppy layers in 2009 (from my eyeline to my jawline), and I've been growing them out ever since.

My hair is now nearly bra-strap length.  It would have been farther along if I hadn't fried it in 2011, but all of the damage grew out in about a year, so although I've been growing my hair out for four years, it was more like two years, stopped for a year, and then started growing it out again this last year.

I'm aiming for waist-length.  I think I'll stop there ... though when I first started growing my hair out I wanted bra-strap length and then that just kept getting longer, so we'll see if waist length ends up being butt length.

It may not be massive but in 4 weeks this is my growth πŸ™‚ (pretty much to the exact date), I'm pretty impressed with that because it got quite damaged when I was bleaching it, it's about half an inch πŸ™‚ hopefully as my hair gets healthier my monthly growth will be better but at the moment I'm smack on target for 13" by christmas, so I'm excited haha. Sam is trying to convince me that it's time to do my roots now as they're more obvious where my hair is light....I want to put it off till there's about an inch...what do you think?

By the way BabyJ I think I'm obsessed with your hair, I always stop and look at it haha

ETA - Turns out I'm a little bit stupid and can't use a tape measure! I just used my ear phone lead and laid it out against a tape measure measuring flat from my forehead to the end of my hair and I'm already at 13.5" so my ACTUAL real life target is now 15" *smacks head*

Woooooooo for growth! πŸ˜€

I aiming to grow my hair to mid-end boob? I'm not sure what it's called! I'm about an inch and half below my collar bones (when it's straight). Hopefully my curls will keep well when it's longer. My curls tend to get lazy when longer. I used to have it to my butt when I was about 11 and I had barely any curl except at the ends.

I think that would be around bra strap length, I think a lot of people measure length down their back instead of their front? My end goal (pffrt I'll be about 40 before this happens) is waist length haha, that will take forever. But apparently you get about 6" growth per year so *technically* I should be there before I'm 30.

measured at 7" to 8" and a half at the max point in about 10 months (taken at the 7th of september vs last full bleach at the 19th of october 2012). I did fix my fringe around january 2013 because I ended up with that weird muddy shade around my face though πŸ™‚

Does anyone do anything special to encourage growth? I use one of those head massager stick things, it does feel nice but I'm not sure quite how much a difference it makes hehe. I did find that my hair grew a LOT earlier this year when I fell pregnant, maybe it was the multivitamins :

Prenatal vitamins and biotin have been known to make hair grow faster, but the best way to make hair "grow" is to take good care of it and to reduce breaking, especially at the ends, and prevent it from splitting up the hair shaft. It will grow no matter what, at a rate of around half an inch per month. But sometimes it will appear that it's not getting any longer, because it's breaking at the same rate as it grows.

Wear your hair up if it's past shoulder length and put your ponytail or scrunchie (scrunchies are soft and won't pull) in a different spot every day so it doesn't break in the same spot over time. Braids and buns are the best. Sometimes I pull my hair on my purse strap, and I play with it way too much. Flat irons, blow dryers and heat are bad for your hair so use them minimally if you have to and with a heat protectant spray.

I think (and this could just be for me) but they work better when you are pregnant and not just because you're taking them? Unfortunately I lost the baby but I still take folic acid as we are trying again and I can't say that taking them makes much difference in my growth and that's by the roots not the ends.
