Yay for thicker, shinier hair!

My layers are starting to noticeably grow out more and I'm so happy. I had to cut some off from previous damage making my last black to blonde transition too much for the ends to handle, but I cut off the stained ginger bits too because I just could NOT stand the difference in tone color in my pink on the ends. So I cut off more than I wanted but I'm so happy they're getting longer πŸ™‚ My top layers are about down to my chin now and I want them to start around my collarbone

@katie how are your layers looking?

Just did a little measure; my goal for march was 16" and it's 17"!!! Very happy πŸ™‚

About the whole putting monistat on your head thing...it works because it's an anti fungal. People have found that when you kill off some of the fungus and yeast that resides on your scalp it makes your hair grow faster. If you have a normal amount, you may not see much growth from using it. But if you have an abundance of yeast or fungus on your scalp, which is quite common, it will make your hair grow faster since your scalp is not bogged down by all those extra passengers. While I would never advise using a medicated anti-fungal on your scalp (unless you see a doctor blah blah blah) I would advise using natural anti-fungals such as vinegar, tea tree oil, coconut oil, etc. which are all safe and beneficial for the scalp. If you notice a difference, then  *1* hooray, you're treating your scalp and your hair is growing faster. If you notice no difference, then  *1* hooray, you have a healthy scalp.
Even with my seb derm (scalp issues) my hair grows at a normal rate. When I treat it, it grows even faster and I get relief from the PITA that is seb drm.

That's why some people report their hair growing faster after dying or bleaching it, it's killing off the extra passengers aboard their scalp. I used to use henna (the best and longest lasting anti-fungal scalp treatment I have ever tried) but now I bleach, which also really helps my scalp but not as well as henna unfortunately.

O..M....G!! This is exactly what my scalp has been doing all my life! It's flaking, itching and is generally greasy! I haven't met anyone who has the same problem so this information is golden! Thank you so much! πŸ˜€ When I went to the pharmacy for help around 2 years ago, they gave me a really strong schampoo for dandruff that made my hair fall out in chunks. I cried that entire night πŸ™ And when I hennaed my hair, it was so much better and I understand why now.

On another note, I'm currently growing out my pixie so seeing all of you ladies with gorgeous long hair kills me haha <3 Right now I'm also trying to grow out my natural colour so weird short half curly hair with greyish roots is what I got going for me now.. Lovely!

I keep going through cycles of growing then chopping. I'm never quite happy! At the moment I'm in a short phase because people started telling me that longer hair was ageing me:(. As I'm now 40 I decided that was a bad thing! I miss my long hair but just don't know what to do with it, so think ill stick with my shorter inverted Bob for now, and just play with the colour instead. If a anyone has any good ideas though please share them! I'd love to have someone come and style me - I never really know what I'm doing!

Very envious of long hair though - even though I don't think it's right for me at the moment.

I either measured wrong in March or my hair has been breaking off because I measured this morning and my hair is only 16 inches again πŸ™ It really felt like it had grown so I was excited to grab the tape measure but I'm just annoyed now. I going to have a little trim/dusting tomorrow at the hairdressers partly because my blunt cut definitely has face framing layers now and partly because I haven't trimmed since September when I chopped it, although one blessing is that my fringe is definitely catching up to the rest of my hair now but I give it a couple weeks before I cut that back in. I don't understand why my hair would be breaking off, it feels like it's in the nicest condition and I use heat FAR less than I used to and only semis, my hair just hates me.

I've just started taking Biotin, I'm hoping it'll make my hair grow thicker and faster. I've also started CO washing.
I trimmed about 3 inches of split ends last week and my hair is about 21 inches long.

how often do you ladies trim your hair?

Deloria87: Maybe your hair is breaking off little by little because of some sort of mechanical damage? I don't know what you usually do with your hair, but if you wear it down a lot and it maybe gets stuck in shirt collars or, maybe if it's loose while you sleep it could cause small breakage I believe. I'm sorry, I'm not much help, I'm just stating everyday things that may or may not cause little damage haha.

I always sleep with it down but switch around what I do during the day so it could well be mechanical.

At my 'trim' yesterday the hairdresser told me that when I got my blunt cut a few months ago that they didn't level my layers out so she did that and now I look like I have a mullet πŸ™ I'm sad!!

Hi there hair-growing folks, you do not have it easy wanting both length and fun colours ... needing to bleach BUT having to be extra careful to avoid additional damage and "counterbalance". I feel so lucky my white hair allows me both more or less easily - heh, it HAS to have its good side to have hair that ages prematurely, I suppose. I'm in my fourties and I have hair that now grows white almost everywhere, except on the back of my head, well green not white that is  ;D .
As of length, I was terminal at ankle but was not satisfied with my ends lately so I cut back to upper calf last week, hoping I will be able to reach floor the second time around. At this length, first, you are a freak if you ever let it down in public, second, you cannot wear it down except for short sessions anyway. So I grow it for my pleasure and not for styling purposes, since its always braided + up in a bun anyway. Honestly it has more to do with some kind of obsession / unusual body perception and such, than with looks, "beauty" etc. But I'm fine with that  πŸ˜› .

Yes I take the occasional length pic to record my growth, here's my latest one, just after the cut, one week ago (not very even, oh well) :
