Hair growing

Is anyone else as desperate as me to grow their hair? I've been on a hair growing mission for literally years (about 4 years) and I've just had to cut it off again, but the longest I've got it so far is about arm pit length with layers around my chin/shoulder length.

I thought we could all give each other support in growing our hair πŸ™‚

I've been growing my hair for 4 years almost!
Haha, I think I've had the most progress this year though as I haven't used a chemical dye on my hair since November 2012.

I started at hair that came to the nape of my neck and I'm now about an inch away from bra strap length, I don't have a particular goal length in mind, I just want long healthy hair πŸ™‚

I had to cut my waist-length hair shoulder length about 2 years ago when my ombre got severely over processed.  It was gut wrenching!  I have been growing it out since.  I was getting a trim every 8 weeks or so, but I've cut back to getting it trimmed every 3-4 months now to help speed it along.  It is just below my bra strap now.  I've got around 6 inches to go to get the length I want.

i got recommended my nans hairdresser for trimming and shaping the hemline and she cut off 5 inches of boob length hair without asking claiming i had huge splits and it looks much better this way without my hair laying against my clothes. i was fuming because i regularly search and destroy and i didnt have huge splits πŸ™

i was aiming for halfway down my ribs/upper waist and it set me back an entire year just to barely get back to boob length

for a while i felt really bitter when i saw people with beautiful long hair lol, still cant wait to get to my ribs i reckon i have 6 to 8 inches to go

My hair is 29 inches long and I've been growing it since 2009. I was growing it before, but I had to get 4 inches chopped off because of damage from being platinum and a salon screw up. My goal is tailbone, which is around 35 inches for me.

Edit: Hair is measured from the front hairline across the top of the head down to the longest part.

Rose313 that's where I measured from as well else it would be much less and I'm sure I'd cry! So pleased I'm not the only one growing my hair

Wow I've never measured my hair.  I will have to try it out!  I am obsessed with measuring my parts, lol.

In 2010 i grew my hair to the longest length it's ever been, to my elbow.  *yay*
But eventually i got bored and annoyed with it so i cut it all off to chin length.
Since then i've been trying to grow my hair out with not much luck  :- (I get bored and cut it shorter).
So since febuary 2011 my hair has been going back and forth between ear length to shoulder length.
Currently it feels like i keep trimming off the same about as my regrowth because my hair is so damage at the moment.  *gun*

Though i'm lucky because i swear my hair grows 1 inch in the space of 3 weeks when ever i process my hair with bleach or boxed dyes.
I swear it does this because i hate my roots and am to lazy to do them so often.  *hair*

I shaved off my hair in March to even it up from having the sides shaved (it was just above shoulder length on the parts that weren't shaved before I did it, and that was after taking out waist length dread extensions), and it is now around 3 inches long.  I've posted some pics in my progress thread here: http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=11780.0
At the moment, I'm not using bright colours, just sticking to a black permanent used with a 10vol developer, and in about 2 months time, I'm getting the fringe put back in (like in my profile pic) and it should then be long enough to put in some temporary synthetic dread extensions, which should help with the growing progress, or at least help with not obsessing over whether or not there's much growth evident day to day!

My hair was 80cms before I chopped it to my neck (about 1.20m at its peek though), and kept it short until I decided to start growing it out... I think I grew about 20cms ever since (easy to see thanks to the fact I didn't bleach for 9 months until june and did it poorly) but I keep chopping really dead ends, it does appear way longer now.

I don't know how long my hair was in 2010 but it was just past my boobs, took two years to get it that length from a pixie cut... then I cut it all off... then I grew it... then I cut it all off. Back on a growing spell (with a side cut) hoping to get it back to past the boobs.

Does anyone do anything special to encourage growth? I use one of those head massager stick things, it does feel nice but I'm not sure quite how much a difference it makes hehe. I did find that my hair grew a LOT earlier this year when I fell pregnant, maybe it was the multivitamins :

There's not really a lot that can actually make it grow faster as, I have read, it's all tied up to your genes and so programmed into us! There's things that can help it grow more healthily, which in turn will make it seem to most like it's growing faster.

My hair naturally grows very fast but I noticed that using supplements works to a point, from about 1.5cm a month I went up to 2-2.5cms a month.
The problem is that they also speed up the entire cycle so you also shed in the beginning.
