Hi girls, long time no see! I hope you're all well and your hair is in great condition (hair-addicts shouldn't ask each other "how are you?" rather "how's your hair?" lol)
I want to try and get some hair extensions, not clip-in ones though, I was thinking of getting my own hair extensions, dying them, and then have someone install them for me.
What are the types of hair extensions and what are the advantages and disadvantaged of each? I heard of like i-tip or u-tip hair extensions, what is it all about?
I'm basically going for length and volume!
Thanks so much for any information!
I have done both i-tip and tape in extensions. I heavily preferred the tape ins. I tips are uncomfortable, and if you have thick hair like me, you need 200+ of them, which is hard to hide on your scalp. Tape ins lay nice and flat against your head and are way more comfortable. Both are extremely high maintenance though. Extensions get super tangly, no matter how nice the hair is that you get. You will need to sleep with your hair either braided or wrapped up(I used one of those afro-style holders that kinda look like a satin bonnet). With tape ins you cannot put conditioner near the bonds(which for me meant no co-washing, boo). You can put your hair in a ponytail with tape ins, and possibly with i tips - but some bonds might show. Your parting is very limited with extensions. Not a bad thing if you usually part your hair the same way all the time, but I like to switch mine up.
Hope that helped!
It did, thanks so much!
If I were to buy i-tip hair extensions on eBay, i.e. I want them to be attached with microrings, am I supposed to look for something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pre-Bonded-100-Real-Natural-Stick-Tip-I-Tip-itip-Human-Hair-Extensions-/130770268825?pt=UK_Women_s_Wigs&var=&hash=item1e7283f299
The tips look really weird to me, I just wanna make sure I don't buy the U-tip ones
thanks once again!
Have you seen flip in extension's? Sometimes known as halo extensions? I really want some but don't have the money right now!
