Getting rid of patchy roots!

Hey guys!

Really need help on how to get my hair all the one colour possibly withoiut using bleach where possible.

Basically, I used Garnier Olia Intense Copper onthe back section of my hair (fringe was blonde) on top of my natural brown roots and the rest of the length of my hair was gingery dark brown. I ended up with bright orange roots and and the rest of it stayed brown with a slight ginger glimmer. Seriously unimpressed, I stripped it with Colour B4 which was awesome. Ended uo with Strawberry blonder hair although the roots where still slightly suspect.

So! I went out and bought Superdrugs own brand of hair dye in Mango Copper Burst for the back of my hair and Plum Passion for the blonde bits in the front. Again, the Mango only stuck to my roots and the Plum made my blonde bits go a really dark brown colour, that is all. I hated it! So I got the Colour B4 again and stripped it all out. My front bits are a mousy brown colour and so is most of the back except for these bloody ginger roots! If my whole hair was the same colour as those it would be fine but I can't seem to make it work :/

Any ideas? At the moment, I have dumped a tub of Directions Mandarin on top so it has a nice orangey shine to it but the roots still look awful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
