From rainbow hair to normal colour?

Hey all,

Got to change my hair back from rainbow colours to a "normal" colour for work. Its currently got all sorts of colours in it which are pastel shades as I've let it fade. Plan was to bleach it and then put an XXL Live cherry mahogany over it all.

Does this sound like a good idea? Someones just said that was a bad plan? Don't mind my hair being a bit mis matched or damaged (its getting a trim anyway).

All help appreciated. xx

Don't bleach. It's not the best plan for removing colour. It's a last ditch thing, bit the first thing πŸ™‚

First fade as much as you can in whatever time you have. Then use colour removers. You can use them up to three times, they don't damage, but they can leave hair dry so get a good conditioning treatment. You should be able to get it all fairly pastel with this.

At that point, don't use the XXL. Permanent red dyes aren't really a lot of cop. They fade faster than semi dyes and of course, are more damaging (and there's no point in damaging more than you need to, it could end up being a lot worse than you think it'll be). You'd be better off using some SFX reds. They'll cover most pastel and you can mix them to get the perfect red. Mix in a bit of an Adore brown if you need to knock the red back a bit.
