Hey guys! So here's my story. I've been dying my hair with pure henna for 3 months and I love the way it made my hair feel and how healthy it made me. I also loved the color it left - at least on the ends. My hair had an ombre mostly since the top wouldn't lighten up. Distressed over a certain thing that happened late Tuesday night I decided I wanted to try and even out my hair. I did a bleach bath after doing a couple of strand tests and my hair seemed to be lighter on top and still have the color I loved on the bottom. After this I went to sallys and picked up Loreal Reds in Light Copper and Copper. I used 80% cooper and 20% light copper. After I washed it out my hair was so dark with barely any red. I let it rest over night and did a bleach bath today that got rid of the dark. The color is pretty decent except my roots which are a lot lighter. I want to achieve a certain color but now I'm afraid to dye it again thinking it will turn dark again. I'm thinking about doing one more bleach bath since my hair feels great to hopefully get the rest of the Henna out. What does everyone think? I included pictures at the bottom. They go from the beginning of the process to where I'm at now. The last picture is of what I would like my hair to look like.
Thanks so much everyone!!
Just so I have this straight, have you done 2 bleach baths and a permanent dye since Tuesday? If so please don't do anything else without letting your hair rest a bit! Even if it feels healthy, damage can take up to a month to show up so it is risky to keep repeating processes in quick succession.
The issue with henna is that it is permanent in a way that even 'permanent' box dyes aren't so you may find it difficult to remove any more of it than you already have.
For future reference, you would have been better using a colour remover rather than bleach bathing the permanent dye out, you may still be able to remove some further colour with one now, but then you need to rest your hair afterwards and wash it a few times before using another permanent dye or you will risk it reoxidising and going back to the colour it was. I don't know if the colour remover will do anything about the henna though, it really does vary from person to person whether henna ever fades out.
At this stage I would probably suggest that you try a colour remover and then use Adore dyes to create the colour you want to acheive (permanent dyes aren't always reliable over lightened hair anyway, and it reduces the length of time they last anyway in my experience). Adore have a huge range of gingery colours that can be mixed easily to create custom shades and they are a direct dye so they won't cause extra damage or cause your hair to reoxidise after the colour remover.
