Friend Just Recovering From Alopecia

Allo! My friend has just got her lovely hair back after losing it due to stress related Alopecia (it has a fancier title than that. Dunno what it is though - totally forgot it!)

She has a lovely neat crop of regrowth coming through wavy (was previously straight). She wants to do something nice with it colourwise as it's still a little short for styling (think and elvin style - maybe inch and a half just over) she is naturally fair and goes very blonde in sun.

What is the best way to lighten it gently as we were discussing colour styles and rather than do her hair fully i thought lightening the tips and pulling maybe a pink and turqoise through the ends for a first time, so it fades quite quickly if she doesn't like it or will fade to a pleasant pastel? Does anyone have any hair inspiration i could show her?
