Hi everybody! I'm really happy to have found this forum. I was born a natural redhead but unfortunately from my dad's side of the family I have experienced "blonding" as I've aged and I also am going white prematurely (Im 26). Both my dad and his mother were completely white before 35.
3 years ago I started dyeing my hair even though everyone my whole life always said never to, because I didn't like being so blonde. Once I started it was too fun to stop! I've been every color in the rainbow now π
I've recently grown out my color to see what it was and to my chagrin, it's just blonder and whiter! SO, I want to dye my hair a very coppery-orange red...the kind of color that really makes you think "ginger."
My biggest concern is dyeing my natural color...I've been dyeing over other dyes. I don't know how an extremely light strawberry blonde will take the color. I'd hate a peachy, Rose, or pink look. Advice? I was thinking of mixing Manic Panic Psychedlic Sunset with, idk, medium copper? I know I'll need to mix 2-3 colors for the result I want.
thx!!!
First pic is natural color, second is desired color.
I'd actually suggest one of the adore dyes for this colour, they are much better than manic panic in my opinion. I think sunrise Orange or Orange blaze look close to that colour, and they also have some more natural bright Ginger colours you could mix if you wanted a less on your face Orange π
White/grey hair is very hard to dye with these dyes though. I would suggest a light bleach bath before hand or it just won't stick.
thanks I'll check out that other brand! what would a light bleach bath entail exactly? when I've bleached my natural hair before it turns completely white within 10 min, so I don't want to damage it too much...plus I hoped if I did it on natural hair that my natural highlights and lowlights would come through.
what if I did a natural darker strawberry blonde permanent color, then used a semi as a glaze to add orangey-ness? I'd space out the applications of course. can you mix these bright colors with clear dye or a neutral color (ie a beige blonde or something) to make it more like a glaze?
I'd really like the end result to toe the line between natural bright ginger and orange. so I know it's gonna be tricky lol
that picture is 4 years old, pre-dyeing my hair. I have a lot more blonde and white now but only the first two or so inches have grown in. here's a more recent pic, if that helps. the front bits and the areas of light blonde are natural. the rest is faded red dye
EDIT: unable to post pic, sorry :/

A low volume bleach bath shouldn't lift much or cause much damage; it just roughs up the cuticle a bit so the dye sticks better.
You can use a permanent ginger as a base and then put the semi over the top; it'll have the same effect (would actually probably be a bit more damage than a bleach bath). You can apply true semis like Adore straight after bleaching or using a permanent dye.
For the colour you're after, what about Adore Cajun Spice or Adore Paprika?
yeah I'm liking several pictures I've seen of the Adore oranges. I'm thinking that I could mix some of the bright orange with conditioner and make my own color depositing condish to use once a week. is that a possibility? has anyone does this to maintain vibrancy?
let's see if this pic works...I brushed my bangs down because they are mostly natural in color. I just wanna make sure you guts can make recs based on where my hair level is
