I am always paranoid about washing the bleach off too soon because the first time she bleached my hair that happened and it was canary yellow and orange and it took a few fixes to get rid of. So I wore a cap and after 20 minutes of process she said my hair is done is lifting. I said I think it's too early. She was annoyed at me for not trusting her judgment and said I read too much about hair and should just trust her.
I'm not trying to be a know it all I just don't want a disaster. Some stylists explain exactly what they are doing every step but mine doesn't she just does her thing. I like to know exactly what is going on.
Am I so wrong?
All hair stylists are different, they are humans too and some might not like it while others won't care. If your stylists brushes off your concerns maybe you should find a different one that is more comfortable explaining what he/she is doing to your hair. Personally, I like to know what and why. I feel more comfortable when the stylist knows what they are doing well enough to explain how the product or process will effect my hair.
It is ok to ask what she is doing, it is your hair and you are paying for a service. However, if the bleach is left on for too long at your insistence, and your hair gets ruined, whose fault is it? Far better to rinse off early than have your hair melted IMO. Your hairdresser sounds like she knows what she is doing, but if you don't trust her maybe you should look for another one.
Mine was really curious about my instructions (and why did I keep on rubbing my scalp when it got a bit too warm for me), pretty happy about her working with me 🙂
I came in with a specific request and since they don't do alternative hair generally she asked me to come in when I am done with the colouring to show her the result.
I agree with wicked pixies points, its better to wash too early and possible reapply - and if you don't trust a hair dresser you have to keep looking for one you do.
My hairdressers welcome discussion about how I do my hair, as they're not experienced in alt colours. I never go to them for colouring, though, just trims, but they find learning the science behind hair quite interesting. And as far as the trims go, they are constantly asking me if I'm ok with what they're doing, so no, I don't think they'd be offended or upset if I spoke up about something I didn't like them doing or wasn't sure about (for example, I never want them to razor my ends).
I know you've complained in great length about your hairdresser before; if your stylist is making you that unhappy, find a new one.
I once went to a hairdresser that didn't listen to anything I said! I wanted a short pixie cut, with bangs but really short in the back and sides. She gave me a mullet-y old ladies hair cut in which she used too many products in as well. I interrupted her several times to explain very clearly what I wanted and also showed her pictures. That was the first and last time I went there!
I haven't been to a hairdresser in years because they never seem to listen. I remember I had my natural ginger hair once and hated it at the time, I went in for layers and low lights, I left with thick tiger stripe highlights, a straight cut that took several inches from my length, and no layers -_- and once I bleached my dyed black hair to get my natural colour back, wanted it done "professionally", they said they would give me the closest thing to natural red as they could, I left with black hair.....permanent as well. You can imagine my horror lmao tbh, if you don't trust them find a new one, but I wouldn't find a new one on the basis of she wouldn't do as you wanted, unless of course this particular hairdresser has ruined your hair or not given you what you asked for.
