Hi all
My hair was a faded Red uptill a few weeks ago when i decided to lose the colour and start fresh so my hairdresser put a permanent dark brown on. Its just too dark for my colouring and i miss my Red so i want to lighten it so i can dye it probably Red/magenta ish. I want to do this myself and get the supplies from Sallys (not trade) any suggesions the best way to start, hair is short bob length and good condition.
You know what they say is you dont miss it till its gone!
Btw im in the UK.

Use a colour remover. I don't think they do them in Sally's? Not sure, but they're so easily available in other places you don't need to go to Sally's. Once you've done that, you can see what you're left with. It'll almost certainly be light enough (unless you have very bad staining from the brown) to then just add red. Which one depends on the shade you want. I'd buy it on line at www.beeunique.co.uk rather than Sally's. Definitely a Direct dye rather than a permanent, for a lot of reasons, not least being that they last longer than permanent, ironically!
Thanks Janineb, That sounds like an easy way of doing it if the colour remover lifts it to the right level, love direct dyes and so conditioning too !
It doesn't actually lift, but it removes the colour to take you back to the base you have before, but that will always be a little lighter as permanent dyes lift the natural base a little. If you had dyed red before, it will probably be stained to orange or red, but that will still be fine.
Thanks Janineb
I now have a gingery orange colour so would i need a pink based Red it would be a Directions colour as i can pop into town (wearing a hat)! and get that brand ?
