Oh wow, I definitely see a big difference from the post you made a little while ago! It's much less saturated and a bit lighter now:) I'm happy the treatment worked well for you!
I've been playing around with test strands the past few hours and I see what the problem is now. I can easily make my pink cooler, no problem, it's the vibrancy that is the issue with me because the ends are stained a medium/light ginger. No matter whatI do color wise over the ends, it doesn't match the vibrancy of the rest of my hair π
Though I hatehatehate to lose length, I think I'm just going to cut more of the ends off, and as my hair grows, cut the rest of the ginger stained bits off. I have the vision of what I want my hair to look like and it's just not possible with that ginger! Oh well...
I am never ever using black dye ever again! lol
Why not just dye the ends a different, more ginger-compatible colour? You can keep the length that way.
Hmmm, I could try and dye them orange...like a Napalm/Hi-Octane orange. It may take a while though and a lot of fading treatments I'm sure, especially since I just refreshed the color. I know Atomic Pink and Virgin Rose are beasts to remove....do you think I could get a really really bright orange over the ginger? Or do you think it will still look kind of muted? If I do go for orange, I would like for it to look like this:
I have never used bright orange, but i don't see why not. Your ends were quite pale if I remember rightly just with some orange staining, so orange would be the ideal choice. I love pink and orange together.
The last about 4 inches is the darkest, you can see here what my base is like under the pink:

I think I'm going to go for it! I'm still going to wait a month or so to even try to start fading the ends since I just dyed it. That way it will still look nice for the holidays. Thanks for the idea! Now I have a new hair goal, yay!
Or maybe (just throwing in my 2 cents) you could go for a pink-to-purple gradient? A darker purple would easily go over the pink you have right now, and you'd be closer to your purpley pink goal? The fade might just be really close to your end goal.
Yeah, I did a test strand with a few different kinds of purples and they all just look more on the dull side over the ginger stained areas. On the rest of my hair, which has a pale blonde to yellow base, it looks pretty! It's just those darn ends..
Yes, napalm over ginger will be super bright orange. Napalm is pretty much like the name makes its sound. That and ginger is orange so its compatible!

Blues are a b*gger. I tried Katie's Combination Color Stripper (and did it another time just as a colour remover, without the peroxide), and it worked really well on loosening up the last bits of blue toners I was not able to budge otherwise! But I feel your pain and hope that something works to fade the blue-turquoises because even using them as toners, I just hated how they just stuck in my hair and were still bl**dy there when I rinsed out the box colour removers.
Katie, I see how you are saying the bottom lengths are a bit darker in the updates on your timeline, which I completely missed till now! The Napalm Orange is absolutely brilliant and would look great on you.
I'm sure you'll do some test strands over the course of the month, and actually I'd even suggest some "test fades" on the new colour to see what the colour might be longer term and how much of a commitment it is? Probably nearly impossible to fade a test strand, ha ha, but I think now I'd be curious to try one on a colour I'd choose, probably primarily because of my bad luck with blues.
And to top things off my hair colour has came back after the bicarb soda and bit C treatment lol I'm thinking I may as well start bleaching. I don't know whether to full bleach or bleach bath yet. I have some split ends but only a bit at the front, my hairs in fairly good condition. I used Aussie 3 minute treatment last night as well, my hair feels amazing! I'm actually a little bit relieved some colour has come back to my roots, it's not as obvious now.
Sitting with olive oil on my head atm (was heated in hot water first) and despite shower cap and sweatband I'm still leaking! Eurgh!
Have had to tuck tissues along forehead and where ear lobes join neck to soak up the stuff seeping out. Grim.
Currently have a mix of adores, violet gem, purple rage and rich fuschia on my head. It's a gorgeous colour on my nails, fingers crossed it's as nice on my hair!
I bleach bathed my roots using conditioner instead of shampoo for the first time today, as my hair just cannot handle the SLS. I loved the consistency! And my hair seemed to like it too. I did miss some bits as it's less easy to spread (which has never happened to me before!) so i'll have to be more careful from now on.
I have a diluted Dark Tulip-Poppy Red-Cerise concoction on my head right now. I am in search of the perfect pink and this is looking really promising!
I'm currently toning my hair with some provoke touch of silver shampoo π
