Coconut oiled last night, put some more on this morning and about to do a root retouch. I really don't want to go over my whole head with dye, I'm really going to try to match it this time around because I love the color my lengths are right now. I'm going to use diluted Virgin Rose and add some of my home mixed purple conditioner toner to it
Got vermillion red on my hair with the arsenal v Chelsea game on, hoping this is orange enough red to mute some of the pinky red π

I love the colour you've created too! If you find any techniques in topping up at the roots to match the lengths, please do share. π I'm finding that to be a bit of a challenge in maintaining the tone on my hair.
Currently dying my roots with Esther Tol Henna in "Red Extra Strong" (with sodium picramate in it - the most non-orange-ish shade of red henna I ever came across) mixed with lemon juice and some conditioner ..
After 2 hours I'll rinse that out, get my hair back to being just a little damp and then I will refresh the long parts with Directions Fire and some Headshot Hellfire Red leftovers, if I manage to open the shitty bottle (long, thin plastic container with a horribly tiny opening, I think I will cut it with a laaarge knife *g*). Might leave that in until tomorrow morning.
Mixed a little bit of Adore Hot Pink with Adore Orange Blaze and Sparks Orange for a color refresh. Hopefully this won't come out too pink. When I swatched it on white paper it just looked like ultra bright orange.
my turquoise has faded, using only hot water, clarifying shampoo, and oil soaks over the past few months, but it was still sorta there, especially near the top of my head and in my fringe. it was really unevenly faded, my roots are super long, and i have pink showing through the slightly acid-y blonde at the ends. ...i needed to do something with it.
my hair's thick and about four inches (or so) below bra strap length, so i section it and pin it up to make sure i cover everything. and guess what, a full bottle of virgin rose, diluted a bit with conditioner, only fully saturated the sections on the top half of my head. so... i covered as much of the lower half of my hair as i could, then diluted some atomic pink to cover the rest.
it took me almost 2 hours just to get the dye in, and i wasn't doing anything fancy. and i'm not sure i even got all my hair, lol! i think i need a helper, from now on! ...anyway, i've been sitting with it under a shower cap and a towel since noon (it's almost 3:30 now). ...i just hope this doesn't turn out to be too much of a mess with that last minute addition of ap. eep!
I can't wait to see how it looks!
I'm currently sat with sky blue on my fringe and a diluted rose red/ lavendar on the rest of my hair. I'm pretty excited to wash it off π
im going to post a picture in the show off section. purple section i guess? lol
I'm sitting here with coconut oil on at the moment - not quite dyeing but that'll come tomorrow.
I've decided I can't wait to go for my sfx virgin rose fix - so I'm doing it this weekend. ::) (Patience isn't my virtue! ;D)
I've had a really good go with clarifying shampoo & shower gel in the shower - got loads of colour out - so I'm now going for the coconut oil treatment. I'm not sure I can cope with sleeping with the oil in - but it's going to have a good 7 hours before I wash it out before bed tonight. I'll co-wash that, then tomorrow will bleach my roots and then slap on the VR. I'm sure it'll be fine!
I've always just gone for colour and hoped - so this time I'm sure it'll work out OK. Besides - if it doesn't - there's always next time! (always optimistic!!)
Have you lightened your base at all? Rose red and Virgin Rose are quite similar colours, you only get red with Rose Red if you put it over an orangey base. It is much more purpley/magenta on a bleached base. Virgin Rose will also look much redder on an orange base.
I've had a slight change of plan...did the bleach bath and revealed the most glorious highlighter pink colour! So I've popped a bit of my pink mix (rubine/carnation/flamingo) in with a load of conditioner and I'm leaving it on over night, hoping for a nice bright barbie pink...this could go fantastically well or horribly wrong!!
Fingers and toes crossed for tomorrow morning please then I'm having it cut on Monday! π
A xXx
wikedpixie I haven't yet but will do. I've thought about it overnight and basically keep changing my mind about what the best thing to do is.
It's faded quite a lot from what it was this time yesterday, although it's now definitely red rather than pink. I'm not sure whether to colour remove, bleach bath then colour, or just bleach then colour, or bleach bath then colour. (My hair is in very good condition so will take whatever I throw at it - this time round anyway).
I'm now thinking after looking at it again that I'm going to try the colour remove first. It's the ends that are really dark.
Just finish my coffee then heading off. I'll report back!
If there is old permanent dye on it then give the colour remover a go, it is almost impoosible to bleach out dark permanent dyes. If not you can just bleach, because you are planning on putting more pink over anyway.
I went for the full monty. Colour B4, then bleach, then the VR. Really happy with the result, and so far it doesn't look like I fried my hair either. Will go and post pics in a sec. ;D
Edited to add: I've uploaded pics in the Pinks section. Mega mega pleased. *1*
Yay, always good when a plan works out π
